By TLex Oorah! ORIS goes tactical with a new divers watch called the 'Force Recon GMT' Ref. No. 747 7715 7754 - made in partnership with the US Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance, AKA FORCE RECON, a special operations command unit -
like the US Navy SEALs or Army Special Forces – that operates independently behind enemy lines providing military intelligence to Marine Air-Ground Task Forces, performing deep reconnaissance and direct action missions at sea and on land.
ORIS' Force Recon GMT is a high-performance, state-of-the-art tactical divers watch, designed to meet the specific needs of the aforementioned special units. It is based on Oris's ProDiver, the one with the special Oris-developed Rotation Safety System, which locks the bezel into place according to the wearer’s requirements.
The new Oris Force Recon GMT's movement allows for a second time-zone, as indicated by a central hand and a 24-hour scale around the dial. It also has an special sub-seconds dial at 9 o’clock, designed to show the wearer that the watch is indeed ruuning in low-light conditions, a useful device when ‘going dark' or going deep! BTW, it's WR is 100bar, 1000m.
Its 49mm case is made of Titanium and has been treated with a tough black DLC coating and is fitted with a unidirectional rotational divers bezel with a scratch-resistant matte black ceramic inlay. The watch comes on a black rubber divers strap along with an additional black NATO strap, which is included in its presentation case.
The rubber strap features Oris’s innovative quick-adjustment sliding sledge folding clasp, which can be adjusted even while the watch is being worn. Protection and cover is offered by a ‘tactical watch cover’ – a mask with a retractable top section that completely wraps around the watch.
The dial bears the Force Recon insignia, which has also been engraved onto the screwdown caseback. The watch comes in a black water-resistant case, and will be available from June 2015.
