By TLex Here's a sneak peek at the 50 piece Limited Edition, Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Ref. IW379401,
one of IWC's family of 7 next generation AQUATIMERs for 2014 that are to be officially unveiled at SIHH next week.
The Aquatimer Perpetual Calendar is the largest model in the collection with an impressive 49mm x 19mm (thick) case that in fact makes it the second-largest wristwatch in IWC’s history, after the Big Pilot’s Watch of 1940.
However its case, which incidentally is constructed from rubber clad Titanium and fitted with an 18ct Rose Gold external rotational divers bezel is not the only big feature of the watch;
its mechanical chronograph movement, an IWC in-house 89801 caliber powers a large double digit day and date display against an edgy looking honey-comb mesh backdrop – up to the minute styling!
Its functions include: a flyback chronograph function, small hacking seconds, a leap year display as well as a stop watch with hours minutes and seconds. The hours and minutes have been neatly combined in a totalizor at 12 o'clock. It has a power-reserve of 68 hrs.
Divers features include: IWC’s new ‘SafeDive’ system that combines both internal and external bezels and a 10bar depth rating, the equivalent of 100 meters of water-resistance. There is luminous material on the hands dial and internal bezel markings of the watch.
