H2O Kalmar MOKUME GANE FixedBezel

INTRODUCING the new H2O Kalmar MOKUME GANE FixedBezel. H2O Watches’ most exotic case material and an industry first. Produced for H2O by their partner and reputed German knife maker Uwe Suhrweier. Mokume Gane (木目金), which translates from Japanese as ‘wood grain’ metal is the product of a special process of bonding mixed-metals invented in 17th-century Feudal Japan by Denbei Shoami. It was used for sword fittings at a time when the decline of the katana industry had forced artisans to create purely decorative items. Achieving a successful lamination using traditional processes requires a highly skilled sword maker with a great deal of experience.



Like all H2O Kalmar, the new Mokume Gane FixedBezel diver is based on the same 45mm (46mm inc. bezel) x 17.6mm case with a 3000m of water-resistance as the regular Kalmar, but instead of the traditional rotational divers bezel it has a fixed bezel. The Kalmar FixedBezel does not have an HEV either.



The Kalmar MOKUME GANE FixedBezel features a Mokume Gane case, exhibition caseback, bezel and crown guard. The crown is in Titanium. As the watch is fitted with an exhibition caseback its water-resistance has been slightly decreased to 2000m, which is indicated on its caseback. If desired the caseback could be switched to a solid version which would allow for 3000 meters of water-resistance. The Mokume Gane exhibition caseback affords a spectacular view onto the watch's Swiss made ETA 2824-2 automatic movement with a custom SuperLuminova applied H2O rotor.



AVAILABILITY There are just 3 pieces of the Kalmar Mokume FixedBezel available. The watch will come on a custom H2O black Horween ‘Shell Cordovan’ strap with black stitching and a Mokume Gane CNC buckle. It will be presented in a genuine leather watch box with 4 compartments.
