Anyone remember the Capeland S XXL? How could you forget it, it was B&M’s only noteworthy dive watch; well at least since the days of the Baumatic Skin Diver, that is.
Since its production ceased almost 10yrs ago, the Swiss brand have shied away from dive watches, which is a pity because a reissue of either the aforementioned divers would likely be met with some hysteria.
Until that day, we’ll have to make do with this – the Baume & Mercier Clifton Club, a diver of sorts designed for the ‘’gentle sportsman’’!
The Clifton Club family consists of 5 members each with their own look – choose from 10378 with its Blue Sun satin-finished dial, blue bezel, delivered on a steel bracelet.
10337 with its steel case and bezel, black Olpaline dial; delivered on an orange trimmed black calfskin strap.
10338 with its steel case, black bezel, white dial; also delivered on an orange trimmed black calfskin strap.
10339 with its matte black case, Black Opaline dial, black bezel and Vulcanized black rubber diver’s strap or 10340 also with a Black Oplaine dial but with a steel case and bracelet.
Basic spec. of the Clifton Club includes: a 42mm x 10.3mm Stainless steel case in an alternating brushed and polished finish.
All dials come with hands and markers are Rhodium-plated with C1 Super-LumiNova and are covered with a Sapphire glass with AR-treatment.
Diver’s features include: a unidirectional bezel, a screw-down case-back and crown and 100m of water-resistance.
Power comes from a Swiss made Sellita SW200 with 26 rubies, a beat rate of 28800.0vph/4.0hz and a power-reserve of 38hrs.
Thoughts? It’s no Capeland S XXL, but it looks alright, particularly the pops of orange form the seconds hand and the triangular 12hr bezel marker.
BTW the B&M Clifton Club family has a new a surprising member coming soon – check out the Clifton Club BRONZE.
