Here’s something coming soon from Yema – the new SUPERMAN Heritage Blue, a reissue of the iconic vintage blue Superman, once chosen to equip France's Air Force pilots in the 1970s.
The watch recreates all the classic features of the original model with its distinct blue dial, oversized square markers and the iconic "shovel" seconds hand.
Its polished 316L Stainless steel case has been refined and slightly extended to accommodate an ETA 2824-2 Swiss movement.
It measures 39mm in diameter with a thickness of 13mm and is fitted with: a special diver’s bezel with a Sapphire inlay and matt white markers echoing the historic model’s Bakelite bezel.
And of course Yema’s emblematic bezel-lock mechanism at 3 o'clock found on all Superman models since 1963.
This along with a vintage-style domed Sapphire crystal, a screw-down case-back and crown provide the watch with a water-resistance of 990ft.
The iconic chromed seconds hand with its head shaped like a shovel is exactly the same used in the 1970's original model. The hands and markers are coated with Swiss SuperLumiNova.
The Superman Heritage Blue comes on a 19mm anti-corrosion 316L Stainless steel bracelet with a secure-lock comes and diver’s extension.
The Superman Heritage Blue has been released as 500 numbered pieces with an MSRP of 1199USD.
In addition to the bracelet version, itis also available on a leather trap with the French Tricolore stitching at the lugs, priced 1149USD. Delivery will commence on March 8th 2019.
Thoughts? This is such a cool watch. It has the looks, the heritage, the spec. is there and the price is fair. Thumbs up!
If you are unsure of the bezel-lock thingamajig (possibly an acquired taste / I like it) then you might consider LeJOUR’s new Vintage Diver collection which is not a million miles away in terms of; looks, price and spec.
