RICHARD MILLE RM 032 Les Voiles de SAINT BARTH [too much?]

Richard Mille has partnered with the four-time world record holder and reigning world freediving champion, Arnaud Jerald for the latest RM 032 Les Voiles de Saint Barth watch. 

This is the new 120 piece Limited Edition RM 032 Automatic Winding Flyback Chronograph Les Voiles de Saint Barth watch.

Time was when I would have joked how you could probably buy yourself a descent sized home with the watch’s 245’000USD price tag but honestly – not these days, not where I live anyway. 

Richard Mille is probably the hottest watchmaker of our time the brand boasts a long list of celeb friends and fans;

Sylvester Stallone, Michelle Yeoh, Natalie Portman, Margot Robbie, Drake, Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Ed Sheeran, Kevin Hart to name a but a few. 

 

They (RM) are known for their big ‘n’ bold design language, massive complications and use of exotic materials such as forged carbon. Richard Milles’ diver, the RM 032 is no different; it is powered by RM’s RMAC2 caliber automatic movement which features: 

 

hours, minutes, an oversize date, month, flyback chronograph with minutes and seconds counter, hour counter, running indicator and variable-geometry rotor – cos’ you never know! The RM 032 Voiles de Saint Barth is characterized by its two-tone combination of Caribbean blue and white Quartz TPT®. 

 

The constant quest for optimal water-resistance and durability has led to the complete integration of these elements into a grade 5 titanium case middle. 

 

By contrast, the lugs, inserts and case back in Carbon TPT® are combined with grade 5 titanium pushers that operate the chronograph and lock the rotating bezel – a complex construction that bears the seal of Les Voiles de Saint Barth Richard Mille on the back. The crown and pushers can be locked by simply rotating a ring on the crown (green index if unlocked, red index if locked). 

 

The movement is thus protected from damage due to excessive pressure or shocks to the crown. Water resistance is enhanced thanks to maximum pressure on the seals. The RMAC2 has around 50 hours (± 10%) of power-reserve, 45 hours with the chronograph running – depending on how on how long the chronograph is actually utilized. 

 

Honestly I have only touched on the RM 032 Les Voiles de Saint Barth’s many features but you can see where the money went. Thoughts? It’s a Richard Mille dive watch – what can I say, it’s really in a realm of its own but you have to admit it looks magnificent in its element. I wonder if Arnaud got to keep his one.
