BALL Engineer Master II DIVER WORLDTIME

Yes, this might busier than a Bombay bus station, but it is also very sophisticated!

This is the new Ball Engineer Master II Diver Worldtime and it’s one helluva dive watch.

Here’s why. Firstly the watch has been redesigned with a new 42mm streamlined Stainless steel case while its refreshed dial now boasts bolder Micro Gas Tubes for enhanced readability.

In addition, the inner diving and city ring is now controlled by an external bezel with a beautiful polished coin-edged grip instead of the fiddly crown that also needed to be unscrewed on the previous gen.

Micro Gas Tubes are literally the last word in wristwatch luminosity, but Ball has now added thicker tubes on both the main dial and the inner ring so that the new Diver Worldtime is even bolder and more luminescent than any of its predecessors.

The result, says Ball is luminosity with stronger readability when exploring dangerous terrain or when tracking elapsed dive-time at depths up to 300 meters.

The watch has also been re-tooled for easier, faster setting and easy wearing – especially with dive-gear – the watch now features a rotating external bezel for controlling the inner ring.

The inner ring is adorned with 24 global cities as well as diving graduations. When diving, turn the bezel to begin tracking elapsed time underwater.

While previous models featured an additional crown at 2 o’clock, the new model features a single robust screwed-in crown for setting the time, day and date.

At 42mm, the new Diver Worldtime is smaller than previous models. With its curved lugs that hug the wrist, it has a lug-to-lug measurement of just 48mm.

In addition to the new 42mm size, the black and blue dials have been redesigned to enhance both character and contrasts with a cleaner main dial, an updated minute track, larger sword hands and accent colors.

The Diver II Worldtime is also the first watch to combine a world-time module with day and date windows which are powered by an automatic caliber BALL RR1501-C, a COSC certified chronometer.

The new Engineer Master II Diver Worldtime has an MSRP of 3’149USD + Taxes and is available to pre-order until 15 April 2020. Orders will ship between May 2020 and June 2020.

Thoughts? Yes, it’s a busy but it’s such a sophisticated looking diver that is highly evocative of travel and adventure. It is also a huge improvement over the previous gen. I would love one. How about you?
