OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M JAMES BOND Limited Edition [On Her Majesty’s Secret Service]

If like me you’re chomping at the bit to see Bond 25 which incidentally has finally been given an official title of “No Time to Die” and a UK release date of April 3rd 2020;

then here’s something from Omega to help build the anticipation – the latest 007 Seamaster watch.

However rather than looking ahead to Bond 25, this new Seamaster takes us back in time, specifically to 1969 and Bond 6, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service when –

Australian, George Lazenby wore not an Omega timepiece but a Rolex; the Oyster Perpetual (Pre-Daytona) Chronograph ref. 6238.

This new watch celebrates the film’s 50th anniversary. Hmm, with that logic we could see Omega releasing a whole slew of models every time one of the JB films hits its 50th anniversary.

Next up, the ‘’Diamonds Are Forever’’ 50th anniversary which will be in 2021; Sean Connery wore a now defunct Gruen in that.

Breitling, Gruen, Hamilton (Pulsar), Heuer, Rolex, a ton of Seiko models, JB has worn the lot but it wasn’t until the 1995 Golden Eye film that Bond –

played by Pierce Brosnan wore an Omega for the first time, a Seamaster 300M Quartz Professional.

Omega and the JB franchise have been conspicuously linked ever since.

Since Golden Eye, JB has continued to wear a Seamaster, not all of them divers such as the Aqua Terra which he wore in Skyfall.

And how could you forget the famous PO XL from Casino Royale? ‘’Beautiful!”; I have one, myself.

James Bond who Daniel Craig will reprise for the last time will most likely be wearing some variant of its modern-day successor, the highly evolved Diver 300M model released LAST YEAR.

In addition to the actual watches worn by JB in each of the films, Omega has released several special tribute editions over the years such as the JB Franchise 50th Anniversary watch and this 2019 Diver 300M James Bond LE.

The James Bond 007 name might be even more significant this year than ever before, if the reports that the MI6 ‘’007’’ designation will be passed to a female agent when JB retires, are true.

Could this be the last time we see James Bond and 007 hand in hand? It’s a head scratcher for sure –

but until that point in time here’s a very cool new JB 007 Seamaster LE that looks like it could be endowed with some of the coolest features yet seen on one of these watches.

Introducing the new Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition, a secret agent’s watch with hidden secrets!

Limited to just 7,007 pieces, the watch has been created with several special design elements that include the 18K plate on the case-side engraved with the watch’s serial #.

The 42mm watch features a robust Stainless steel case with a black ceramic bezel a dive-time-scale in white enamel, and a simple black rubber diver’s strap.

But to mark the 50th anniversary, 18K yellow gold has been used for the hands, indexes, the Bond family coat-of-arms at 12 o’clock, as well as the Limited Edition plate on the case side.

Its spiral-brushed black ceramic dial has been laser-engraved with James Bond’s iconic gun barrel design; the diameter of its center is exactly 9mm, a nod to his Walther PPK regulation sidearm.

Continuing the On Her Majesty’s Secret Service 50th anniversary theme, a secret signature number ‘’50’’ is hidden on the 10 o’clock hour-marker – which is revealed when the lumed marker glows in the dark.

And for the first time Omega truly delves into JB’s heritage with the Bond family’s coat-of-arms in 18K yellow gold on the 12 o’clock hour marker as well the special case-back design.

This bears the family motto ‘’orbis non sufficit’’, the Latin for the World in not enough (another JB title), below while above it reads WE HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD. Yes, but No Time to Die!

You see what I did there, I cleverly referenced Bond 25, ah forget it ;)

By the way on the 7th of every month, you will be treated the number 7 on the date disc which has been produced in the legendary 007 font.

Power comes from an OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8800 with magnetic-resistance of 15,000 gauss.

Finally the watch comes in its own 007 presentation box. Inside, you’ll find a travel pouch, as well as a strap-changing tool and an additional Stainless steel bracelet.

Thoughts? This is a really cool watch, no doubt but I am not really old enough for Her Majesty’s Secret Service to evoke any significant feelings of nostalgia.

I was a mere ankle biter, but 1979’s Moonraker was the first Bond film I ever saw. I remember being terrified by Jaws.

How bout’ you; what do you make of the watch, which 50th anni. would you like to see in the future?
