SEIKO Prospex Save the Ocean GREAT WHITE SE collection

Following on from my cheeky preview earlier this year – Seiko Prospex have officially released a new Save the Ocean SE collection in honor of the Great White shark.

Here are full details including pricing and some marginally better pics.

There are 3 models in the collection that include: a Samuarai, a Turtle and a Solar Chrono.

All 3 models have bi-color bezels and blue wave pattern dials with a hint of a Great White shark fin breaking the surface at 8 o’clock.

I missed this detail last time but all models also have special shark fin second hand counter weights. Even the chrono’s sub-secs has the same fin detail.

The Samurai ref. SRPD23K1 has a 43.8mm Stainless steel case with a Hardlex crystal, a diver’s bezel with blue inlay and a black 15 min. scale. WR is 200m.

Power comes from a Seiko 4R35 automatic caliber with 23 jewels and 41hrs power-res. MSRP should be circa 560USD. Ref. SBDY029 has an MSRP of 63,000 JPY+TAX

The Turtle ref. SRPD21K1 has a 45mm Stainless steel case with a Hardlex crystal, a diver’s bezel with blue inlay and a black 20 min. WR is 200m.

Power comes from a Seiko 4R36 automatic with 24 jewels and 41hrs power-res. MSRP should be circa 560USD. Ref. SBDY031 has an MSRP of 62,000 JPY+TAX.

The Solar Chrono ref. SSC741P1 has a 45mm Stainless steel case with a Hardlex crystal, a diver’s bezel with blue inlay and a black 15 min. WR is 200m.

Power comes from a Seiko V175 Solar chronograph caliber. MSRP should be circa 515USD. Ref. SBDL059 has an MSRP of 56,000 JPY+TAX.

Here’re a fun Great White fact for ya’ (well, totally not at all fun for the sharks tbh)

– did you know that scientists have recently discovered that orcas AKA killer whales have been targeting Great Whites for their large calorie-dense livers.

Working in pairs the Orcas pull the sharks apart by their pectoral fins so that they can get to their livers.WTF!
