ORIS Divers Sixty-Five BI-COLOR [40mm steel & bronze]

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five family has a sexy new addition, a new bi-color model, the Stainless steel and Bronze AKA Sixty-Five Bico.

The Divers Sixty-Five is without a question Oris’s most successful model of recent years. It’s based on the first dive watch that Oris made in 1965.

Today’s iteration, while faithful to the original design makes use of bronze for its bracelet and divers bezel.

Its case, like any other member of the family is made from Stainless steel but in this instance it gets the new 40mm diameter rather than 42 or 36mm.

Its domed black dial is with Rose Gold PVD plated indices, hour, minute and seconds hands.

It comes on either a brown leather strap with a Stainless steel buckle or Stainless steel and Bronze bracelet with folding clasp.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Ref. 0173377074355 has a Swiss MSRP of 2200CHF and will be available from April 2019.

ORIS Divers Sixty-Five BRONZE BEZEL [green]

This beauty is the latest addition to the ORIS Divers Sixty-Five collection.

Its deep green dial is said to recall the greenish-blue colors of the world’s oceans which perfectly complements its new bronze diver’s bezel.

Its domed green dial is with applied Rose Gold PVD plated indices, hour, minute and seconds hands.

As with other watches of the same family, this 42mm version of the Divers Sixty-Five has a vintage look but comes with all the advances of modern watchmaking.

It has a Stainless steel case, a unidirectional rotational diver’s bezel, a Swiss Made automatic mechanical movement, hands and indexes coated in light old radium-colored SuperLumiNova, and a hard-wearing brown leather strap.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Ref. 0173377074357 has a Swiss MSRP of 1,950CHF and will be available as of April 2019.

ORIS Divers Sixty-Five BRONZE BEZEL [black]

This handsome devil is the latest addition to the ORIS Divers Sixty-Five collection. Its black dial is with gold accents beautifully complementing its new bronze diver’s bezel.

While its domed black dial boasts applied Rose Gold PVD plated indices, hour, minute and seconds hands.

As with other watches of the same family, this 42mm version of the Divers Sixty-Five has a vintage look but comes with all the advances of modern watchmaking.

It has a Stainless steel case, a unidirectional rotational diver’s bezel, a Swiss Made automatic mechanical movement, and hands and indexes coated in light old radium-colored SuperLumiNova.

It comes with either: a Stainless steel bracelet, a choice of two hard-wearing brown leather straps or a black tropic-style diver’s strap.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Ref. 0173377204354 has a Swiss MSRP of 2,050CHF and will be available as of June 2019.

ORIS Divers Sixty-Five 40MM

Oris’s popular Divers Sixty-Five returns this year with a new 40mm case size.

The watch, which was previously only available with a 42mm or 36mm case, is based on the design of an historic diver’s model dating back to 1965.

Its retro looks include: a domed crystal, low-profile unidirectional rotating bezel and shield-shaped hour marker at 12 o’clock.

This new model has a blue domed dial with vintage Light Old Radium SuperLumiNova detailing, and is available on either a brown leather strap, a black tropic-style diver's strap or a Stainless steel metal bracelet.

The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Ref. 0173377074055 has a Swiss retail price of 1,850CHF and is available from May 2019.

Thoughts? Personally 40mm is too small for me but this a good move by Oris, as there is a trend for smaller wristwatches especially in the vintage diver segment.

RESERVOIR HYDROSPHERE

You know how most diver’s watches far from resemble anything like the diving instruments that they purport to be.

They tell the time and date, they look pretty on our wrists; some can even be used for measuring elapsed dive-time.

Here’s an innovative new dive watch that does all the above and more; oh, and it looks like proper diving-instrument to boot.

Introducing the new Hydrosphere from Reservoir; faithful to the technical demands of dive watches, it offers a fresh new perspective on dive-time with a dial that has a single needle.

The Hydrosphere comes with an operation indicator at the base of the needle and a disc that turns with each second that passes.

Inspired by a Scuba diver’s pressure-gauges, the Hydrosphere’s satin-finished, 45mm, 316L Stainless Steel case is equipped with a unidirectional, rotational diver’s bezel and a Helium Escape Valve.

The bezel has a ceramic inlay that comes with a double scale. The purpose of the dual scales is to allow the diver to read dive-time at different diving depths (before and after the retrograde minute hand’s return).

In addition to the special bezel and HEV, the Hydrosphere has a screw-down case-back and crown, an AR-treated Sapphire crystal, and is water-resistant to 250 meters.

Powering the watch is a self-winding mechanical movement with 37 hours of power-reserve. Its complications include:

retrograde minutes, jump hour, power-reserve indicator, date and a patented proprietary 124-pieces module on its ETA 2824-2 caliber.

The Hydrosphere comes on 316L Stainless steel bracelet that is screwed to the main-case. It has a brushed finish with a bladed folding clasp and a diver’s extension system.

There are three versions of the Hydrosphere: the Black Fin, the Blue Hole and the Air Gauge (white). It has a price of 4300USD plus taxes.

Thoughts? This is such cool dive watch (complicated looking but cool); while it should appeal greatly to the technically-minded scuba diver;

it will likely leave the rest of us latent and wannabe scuba divers scratching our heads!

ORIS Aquis Date BROWN 36.5MM

Here’s another BROWN Aquis from Oris; this time around, it has the female beach-goer in mind with a Sunray Brown dial inspired by the soft, calming color of sand.

This sandy brown dial has been paired to a cermet gold bezel insert and a dark brown satin fabric strap.

The watch’s 36.5mm multi-construction case is water-resistant to 300m. It can be optioned with either the satin brown strap or an Aquis Stainless bracelet.

The Oris Aquis Date Brown Ref. 0173377314156 has a Swiss MSRP of 1700CHF and will be available from May 2019.

ORIS Aquis Date MINT

Nope, your screen isn’t on the blink; don’t adjust it. Nor are your eyes so don’t adjust them, either.

This is a brand new color for Oris and it’s been bestowed upon their Aquis Date which gets a minty fresh new dial in mint-grey. This has been paired to a grey tungsten bezel insert.

In addition to the refreshing mint-grey colorway, this Aquis Date comes with 39.50mm case diameter. The multi-construction case is water-resistant 300m.

The watch comes on either a standard Aquis Stainless steel bracelet with a diver’s clasp or grey leather strap.

The Aquis Date Mint will be available from June 2019 and will have a Swiss retail price 2000CHF.

TAVANNES Submarine Commander

Tavannes retrace their roots with an interesting new wristwatch inspired by a WWI military watch that was commissioned by two British submarine commanders.

The Submarine Commander Collection is the revival of the first advertised waterproof watch of Tavannes Watch Co.

The watch was required to be: water-tight, non-magnetic, and the balance wheel had to be of a material that shows a minimum of expansion and contraction with variations in temperature.

The face also had to be legible at all times, the result a watch, a very cool early naval watch that today has been revived in the form of the Tavannes Submarine Commander.

Three versions are available; well, one (the anniversary LE) is sold out but two remain; the Submarine Commander and Submarine Commander Black Edition with its black PVD case.

Basic spec. includes a 41mm Stainless steel case which is water-resistant to 100m and is fitted with a Sapphire crystal and a Swiss made ETA 2824-2 STD automatic movement.

MSRP is 2750USD Black Edition / 2500 Steel.

Thoughts? I want to like this a lot more than I do; it is a really cool piece but I think the dial is overly disrupted by the logo. Besides I have a HYDROGRAPHER on the way! ;)

BULOVA Oceanographer NEW COLORS

Bulova’s rather nice Oceanographer AKA Devil Diver will be joined by three striking new colorways for 2019. Here are two of them; a green dial with matching green 15mins and a blue dial with an orange 15mins.

The third, a blue dial with a yellow 15mins scale eludes me, but trust me it is without a shadow of a doubt, the best looking of the three.

With a design that pays tribute to the acclaimed 70s Oceanographer dive watch, the Devil Diver is nicknamed so because,
the unsuperstitious Bulova printed the Oceanographer’s 666ft depth-rating on its dial.

Basic spec. of the watches includes: a 44mm x 14.5mm Stainless steel case, 200m, Sapphire crystal, 200m and a Miyota 821 cal.

MSRP is 795USD. You can read more in-depth info on the Oceanographer Special Edition HERE.

DELMA Cayman Automatic FIRST LOOK

In addition to their Baselworld top billing, the 4000 meter, BLUE SHARK III, Delma have added another new dive watch to their diver collection for 2019.

The new Cayman Automatic is inspired by the crystalline waters of the Caribbean Sea and has a distinct retro-aesthetic harking back to Delma’s earlier days.

The Cayman is available with 5 different looks; each with a sunburst dial, itself with luminous filled applied indexes.

The vintage case, the old school anodized bezel with rhombus 12hr marker, the oversized unguarded screw-down, winding-crown and Milanese mesh bracelet will appeal greatly to retro fans.

However the Cayman isn’t just a pretty face; its 42mm x 13.3 case is made from robust Marine Grade Stainless steel and is water-resistant to a respectable 500 meters.

This is fitted with diver’s bezel, a Sapphire crystal on top and a hardened mineral crystal underneath affording views of a Delma engraved gold plated rotor and the ETA 2824-2 automatic movement that it powers.

BTW Delma offer the Cayman as Quartz with 200m.
