BREITLING Superocean HÉRITAGE II Chronograph 44 OUTERKNOWN

This awesome looking new Breitling is the Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown which celebrates Breitling’s partnership with Outerknown, a sustainable clothing company committed to improving environmental conditions for the entire planet.

The watch features a first for Breitling, a strap which has been crafted from ECONYL® yarn, an innovative material created from nylon waste, one source of which is fishing nets from oceans around the world.

BTW, we recently saw that ORIS partnered with CLEANUP to make a similar enviro-strap. The difference is; this one actually looks super nice.

Outerknown was co-founded by surfing legend Kelly Slater who works with Ocean Conservancy to raise awareness of the problem of marine waste and to motivate individuals to take action to clean up the oceans.

Breitling’s Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown is a cool new take on this vintage-inspired model; combining a black case, a striking blue dial, and blue ECONYL® yarn NATO strap making for a bold style statement.

The blue used for the strap and dial have bene chosen to also create a strong, eye-catching link to the oceans and the blue planet, which sustainable clothing brand Outerknown and its co-founder, Kelly Slater, are striving to support.

The Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown has a sleek black DLC-coated Stainless-steel case and a caseback engraved with the distinctive Outerknown logo.

Its COSC-certified chronometer features an ultra-hard scratch- and shock-resistant unidirectional ceramic bezel with a luminescent central dot at the 12 o’clock position – an important feature for a diver’s watch that Breitling had in the past omitted on a Superocean.

The BGW9 Super-LumiNova coating on the dot and the hour and minute hands emits a blue light instead of the standard green, perfectly complementing the overall aesthetic appeal of the watch.

The Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown is powered by the Breitling Caliber 13 mechanical chronograph movement.

Its blue dial is distinguished by a matte grey SuperOcean inscription, white accents, sub-dial, and central second hands, while the sub-dials are characterized by their white accents and black nickel- plated indexes. The familiar B in the Breitling logo also features a black nickel-plated finish. Nice touch!

The Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown is the ever first Breitling model to be introduced with a strap made from recycled materials as each timepiece features a NATO strap made from ECONYL® yarn, a regenerated nylon material created from nylon waste, one source of which is fishing nets from oceans around the world.

The partnership with Outerknown also inspired the pattern of the strap, which is based on a fabric produced by the clothing company. The strap’s color – taffeta dark blue – reflects the watch’s connection to the oceans.

Finally, the Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown is also presented in packaging made entirely of recycled materials.

Thoughts? Very cool move, great looking watch and really hope to see more Breitlings served up on NATO in the future.
