It’s been quite some time since Blancpain turned their attentions towards the regular FF. For 2018 the Fifty Fathoms gets two big updates, a brand-new satin-finished 45mm, Titanium case and as luck would have it, a big f#@k off double date window – yeah! :(

I guess the folks at Blancpain have finally realized that it’s really important to know what the date is when you’re SCUBA diving. This is their third new diver's model release with an unnecessary date complication.

Since the Fifty Fathoms debuted in 2007, its date indications have appeared through a more subtle window placed at the 4 o’clock position. However, Blancpain have now equipped the watch with their signature instant-change large date complication, which is displayed in two big dirty windows located at 6 o’clock.

As well as the enhanced readability owing to the large size of the numerals, its design changes the date instantly at midnight without excess energy use from the running train of the watch.

This new FF model retains Blancpain’s base caliber 1315, which is 100% in-house and is equipped with three mainspring barrels and achieves a five-day power reserve. It also uses a non-magnetic Silicium hairspring protecting the movement from magnetic fields without the need for a Faraday cage.

The Cal. 1325 can now be viewed through a clear Sapphire case-back while the 45mm satin-finished Titanium case has been fitted with a traditional FF-style Sapphire crystal diver’s bezel. It also comes with Fifty Fathoms standard attire AKA a sail-canvas or NATO strap.

Thoughts; I love the use of Titanium although Stainless does hold up better – really hate the big date windows? What do you think?
