DAVOSA Ternos Professional TT GMT

DAVOSA has released an additional version of the Ternos Professional with a dual-time function.

It seems like this might have just come off the back of the Steinhart Ocean Titanium 500 GMT a few posts down, but in fact the Ternos Pro GMT was a Basel release from earlier this year.

Like the Ocean Titanium 500 GMT, it was also inspired by another well-known Swiss GMT Diver – it has the same beautifully contrasting two-toned black and blue ceramic 24hr bezel inlay.

We’ve also got a lovely blue accent in the form of a GMT pointer. If the blue is al little too much for you – then a second all-black version is also available.

Basic spec. includes: a satin-finished all Stainless steel case measuring 42mm x 15.5mm, an anti-glare Sapphire crystal, a scratch-resistant and two toned ceramic bezel, SLN hands and markers and Swiss ETA2893 automatic movement with second time-zone function.

It has a water-resistant to depths of 200 meters. Prices are as follows: 1298€ (black/blue), 1248€ (black). So what do you think – Ocean Ti 500 GMT or Ternos Pro GMT.

I think the Steinhart has the edge, firstly its Titanium, but it’s a little more youthful – it also has a decorated movement.

SQUALE 101 Atmos for Polizia di Stato SOMMOZZATORI

Swiss dive watch manufacturer, Squale of Italy have partnered with one of the most famous police diving teams in the world,

Italy’s famous Polizia di Stato Sommozatori, whose famous logo has previously been printed onto the dial of a Rolex Sea-Dweller Ref. 16600.

Today it is a Squale 101 Atmos, the Swiss brand’s most celebrated divers model that is proudly sporting the iconic black and white octopus logo of the Polizia di Stato Sommozatori on its dial.

The special limited series 101 Atmos is exactly the same as any other 101 Atm except of course for the octopus team logo which can be seen at dominating the 6 o’clock position of the dial.

While a further octopus engraving of the Polizia di Stato Sommozatori can be found along with a wave pattern on the riverside of the watch.

This watch has only just been revealed this month, unfortunately there is no availability for those outside of the Polizia di Stato Sommozatori diving team. :(

CRONUS Prototype 2 BLACK

Cronus Watches of Germany have just released a new Black Edition of their diver, the PROTOTYPE 2.

If you are unfamiliar with Cronus they are the newest kid on the block with a very special diver that utilizes a patented crown-locking device.

Style-wise you might compare Cronus with G&W or Ennebi – or better described as somewhere between the two.

The Prototype 2 is their first production model. The PROTOTYPE 1, although a fantastic watch in its own right that directly lead to the P2, never actually made it into production.

Basic specifications of the Prototype 2 Black Edition include a case constructed from 316L Stainless steel which has been given a black PVD coating.

Divers features include: a Sapphire crystal, water-resistance of 300 meters and crown-locking device with a visible operating indicator on the dial.

Firstly there’s its extremely robust yet super lightweight case that is made from satin-finished Titanium – perfect for hot weather comfort.

This is fitted with a double inner anti-reflective domed sapphire crystal, which is framed by a unidirectional rotational divers bezel with that iconic glossy black and blue ceramic inlay which has engraved and lumed 24hr markings.

BREITLING Superocean 44 SPECIAL

Here’s something SPECIAL from Breitling, again!

Once again it’s the Superocean 44 that has been given a bit of a tart up (for want of a better word) – actually there’s a probably a bit more to it than just that. ;)

The Superocean dates back exactly 60 years to 1957 – it has certainly come a long way. The 2017 Superocean 44 Special has a sturdy Stainless steel case measuring – you guessed it, 44mm.

It is endowed with all your typical divers features: a glare-proofed Sapphire crystal, a high-tech ceramic bezel and a thousand meters of water-resistance thanks to a twin-gasket screw-locked crown.

And at 9 o’clock on the case is a the obligatory Helium Escape Valve serving to balance out pressure differences inside and outside the case when necessary.

The divers bezel comes in either black or blue, but there is also a ladies version in white. The ladies version has had the tops of its lugs encrusted in diamonds.

I haven’t really got a Scooby what is going on with the other black encrusted version – I have included a pic of it for reference. Maybe it’s a second ladies version?

The black or blue bezels match the dials, and are teamed with a Stainless steel case that has a sporty satin-finish on top and more blingy polished sides and crown.

The dial has large luminescent markers designed excellent legibility. The baton-type hands clearly distinguish hours from minutes -

while differently shaped hour-markers for five-minute intervals, quarters and 12 o’clock.

A seconds hand with a red tip and a small luminescent triangle serve as the perfect mvenement operating indictor – a requirement of a any divers watch worth its salt.

Keeping things moving inside is a mechanical self-winding movement chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute).

The watch can be worn on either a rugged steel bracelet, or on either a black or blue rubber divers strap with raised central motif and Breitling signature or a row of port-holes.

PANERAI Luminor SUBMERSIBLE Auto Steel E-COMMERCE

PAM00731 will only be available to order from Panerai’s E-Boutique in the United States – it is basically the same as the Sub Auto Steel – only it has a lovely deep blue dial.

The Limited Edition of 100 pieces has a Stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter. It is fitted with an AR-coated Sapphire crystal and it is water-resistant to 300 meters.

It is comes on a black rubber divers strap (blue would have been cool) with a steel buckle plus the traditional strap and changing tool.

PANERAI Mare Nostrum ACCIAIO 42mm PAM00716

Here’s a 42mm, Limited Edition, little gem from Panerai that didn’t make the SIHH 2017 line-up. It’s called the Mare Nostrom Acciaio (steel) AKA PAM00716.

You know it’s something special when homages have been made of it – but this is the real deal, folks.

Well as close to a 90s Pre-Vendome Mare Nostrum of the type that can trace its roots back to the early 40s when a porotype was made for use by Italian Naval officers who wore it as a deck-watch.

Like many fabled Panerai timepieces – it never really went into production – well not until Pre-Vendome PAM made some models in the 1990s. The PAM00716 is based on this model.

There are several nods and winks to the early Pre-Vendome models. The dial is an obvious one which is in the same blue – which is complimented by a luxurious blue leather band.

Powering the PAM716 is a hand-cranked OP Cal. XXXIII, which is based on a decorated ETA 2801 with a bolted on Dubois-Depraz chronograph module. It has a power-reserve of 42-hours.

This is not the first Mare Nostrum reissue from the Richemont owned Panerai, they have previously released two other models, one in 2010 and more recently the 2015 TITANIO 52MM.

The Mare Nostrum Acciaio 42MM PAM00716 comes in a Limited Edition of 1000 pieces. These will be made available from selected ADs and Pam boutiques this autumn - priced €9900.

The watch comes in a special presentation box with a model of 1940s Italian Naval destroyer.
