CITIZEN Eco-Drive PROFESSIONAL Diver 1000M BN7020-09-1

This - JAMSTEC-tested, Duratect & DLC coated, Super Titanium-constructed, Eco-Driven, 1000M water-resistant diving behemoth is the new CITIZEN Eco-Drive Professional Diver 1000M Ref. BN7020-09-1, the world’s first light-powered SAT-divers watch coming to you this Summer priced 2300USD!

An impressive introduction for an impressive dive watch – did you manage it in one breath? The mere sight of the new Eco-Drive Pro Diver 1000M is enough to leave the best of us breathless and for good reason, too.

The watch is brimming with high-tech construction techniques and boasts a whole boat load of cutting-edge dive watch technologies. Take its brick-like structured case for example which measures a monstrous 52mm in diameter by 21.4mm thick.

This has been constructed using Super Titanium, a CITIZEN proprietary technology that treats solid Titanium with Duratect, CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology making at least 5 times harder and roughly 40 % lighter than Stainless steel.

Super Titanium uses a various surface-hardening technology which Citizen has expertly used to allow the functions required for each of the watch’s components to collectively achieve a robust surface finish. In order for all the parts to also withstand water-pressure at 1000 meters depth, they applied one of these hardening technologies.

Duratect MRK was used for the case parts such as the crown tube and the escape valve tube. Once in place, they bonded each of the individual components to the case at an atomic level to achieve an even higher level of adhesion. The technical name for this process is known as solid phase diffusion bonding!

And how about that PROMASTER divers bezel! It is of course in line with ISO standard for a divers watch and has been designed to further eliminate the danger of its wearer accidentally turning the bezel the wrong way during a dive. So the Eco-Drive Professional Diver 1000m is equipped with a special bezel-locking mechanism.

When the bezel lock is set to FREE, an orange warning color is appears to alert the user. The crown also uses the same mechanism, revealing an orange color between the case and the crown to warn the wearer when the crown has not been correctly pushed into lock-mode.

As well as its PROMASTER diver’s bezel, the watch also has PROMASTER photo-luminescent markers that absorb light faster and stay brighter for longer. CITIZEN ensured a generous application using a luminous material that has more than twice the afterglow brightness than a conventional material even after 5 hours.

The Eco-Drive Pro Diver 1000m is an ISO compliant dive watch that can perform even in a SAT-diving environment. The escape valve set at 10 o’clock on the case side releases any Helium gas that enters the watch during saturation diving to prevent any damage or rupture upon the movement.

CITIZEN conducted testing of the Eco-Drive Pro Diver 1000M with the cooperation of JAMSTEC AKA the Japanese Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, who conducted a pressure-test to examine the effects of waterproof performance in a high-pressure environments as well the dial visibility, and luminous features in deep water.

Being a 1000m SAT-diving watch meant not only passing its water-resistance test, but also a performance test that kept the watch operating for 15 days in a pressurized chamber that contains Helium and Oxygen or 100% Helium gas and then revert back to atmospheric pressure within 3 minutes after a high-speed decompression from 125 bar.

Finally the Eco-Drive movement housed inside this incredible diver watch – the Citizen Cal.J210 that has an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and can runs for about 1.5 years on a full charge. A power-reserve indicator tells divers the remaining battery charge.

So what do you think are you smitten or like me do you think a new Autozilla will be the way to go???
