BREITLING Superocean Héritage CHRONOWORKS

By TLex You know how ABT Tune for Audi or AMG for Mercedes Benz; the CHRONOWORKS Performance Lab is where Breitling’s best and brightest watch-boffins –

working out arguably of one the best-equipped labs in the watch industry tune their in-house movements to extract more power-reserve in the exact same way that engine tuners do to gain more horse power!

Case in point is a reworked Manufacture Breitling Caliber 01 self-winding chronograph movement featuring a modern structure, column-wheel construction, a vertical coupling-clutch and an increase in power-reserve from 70 – 100 hours.

The aim was is to increase efficiency wherever possible, seeking to pinpoint the slightest loss of energy, the tiniest pointless friction, the smallest excess weight increasing inertia.

Five technical advancements were developed (relating to the choice of materials, the geometry of the parts, etc.) serving to reduce friction as well as dynamic efforts at all stages: all with a view to achieving enhanced energy efficiency.

The result is showcased in the new (tuned) Superocean Héritage Chronoworks, a 100-piece Limited Edition, featuring an all-black version with a brand-new matt ceramic case ensuring an original, powerful yet modern look expressing all the new power gains on its inside.

Its dial sports pointed hour-markers recalling the vintage 1957 Superocean that was created for old school skin-divers. An exhibition caseback provides a chance to gaze upon the Chronoworks movement with its revisited mechanism and its new black Chronoworks rotor.

Another exclusive touch is the woven rubber strap inspired by the original woven steel bracelet that the new Superocean Héritage Chronoworks is equipped with. Pretty damn cool; I wonder if they’ll work their Chronoworks magic on of Breitling’s more serious divers?!
