By TLex Ulysse Nardin have given the new MARINE DIVER some tasteful 18K Rose Gold highlights. You’re right; Gold isn’t an obvious choice for a diver. In fact, functionally it’s a terrible choice –
aesthetically speaking, though, it’s a whole other story - the result is absolutely breathtaking! And with its anchor emblem, proudly displayed at 2 o’clock and UN’s iconic a wave-pattern dial, it is highly evocative of the marine environment for which it was intended, despite the 18K RG - which can also be seen on the bezel, the crown and the caseback.
The solid caseback has an engraving of a boat surrounded by the inscription; ‘Conquer the ocean'. The dial has an impressive 44mm display with large hour-markers and hands with a white luminescent coating and a red stripe, for perfect visibility. The sub-seconds at 6 o'clock are also over-sized, offering further high-visibility.
The watch is powered by a self-winding caliber UN-26 with a power reserve of 42 hours. In addition to, hours, minutes and seconds, its functions include: a date (window at 6 o’clock) and a power reserve in indicator, at 12 o’clock.
Presented on a rubber diver’s strap, the Marine Diver Gold (in terms of its performance) has the exact same diving capabilities as the steel version. So that’s a water-resistance to 300 meters, made possible thanks to a screwdown crown (claw-shaped rubber molding) and caseback, a unidirectional rotational divers bezel.
