By TLex Breitling has released a new larger, sportier, automatic version of the Galactic. The new manlier Galactic 44 joins the Galactic 41 plus two 36 and 32mm ladies’ models (this would explain why I hadn’t discussed the Galactic until, now).
It boasts a polished 44mm Stainless steel case that has a screwdown crown protected by two elongated crown-guards. The crown is of the type used for the Chronomat. Divers features include: a Sapphire crystal with AR-coating on both
sides, a screwdown caseback and a unidirectional rotational divers bezel
with black rubber-inlaid hour-markers – creating a sporty feel.
Water-resistance is 200 meters.
Its dial features two windows; one for the day at 12 o' clock and one
at 3 for the date, along with a compass scale and a graduated scale
with 1/100th of an hour divisions on an inner bezel. It is fitted with
large hands and hour markers that have (along with the 12hr bezel
marker) been applied with a vintage orange lume.
The new Galactic 44 is powered by a COSC-certified self-winding
chronometer movement. The red ‘Automatic’ text on the dial at 6 o’clock
servers as reminder that this is indeed the self-winding mechanical
version of the Galactic family.
It is available with either a black, blue or silver dial, fitted with a choice of either a steel bracelet or a strap in leather, crocodile leather, rubber or a military-type fabric.
