MAURICE LACROIX Pontos S SUPERCHARGED

By TLex Maurice Lacroix have beefed up their popular Pontos S for 2014. The modern and sporty aesthetic of the 2012 model still persists, only this time it is presented in a large, 48mm case, guaranteed to make a bolder statement on your wrist and powered by one of the largest automatic calibers available, the ETA Valgranges –introducing the new PONTOS S Supercharged!

This cool new timepiece features either a combination brushed and polished Stainless steel case (vertical brushed middle-case and lugs sides, with polished bezel and facet on lugs) or a Stainless steel anthracite PVD case with a sleek black exterior.

The steel version is with red and white detailing, set against a contrasting black dial; the PVD version is with yellow and white hands, markers and inner rotational bezel. Both watch’s outer fixed bezels and crowns feature a tactile knurled (engraved cross hatching pattern) finish.

Divers features include: a black sandblasted inner rotational divers bezel with either red (steel) or yellow (pvd) dive-time scale AKA - ML’s patented ‘Elapsed Time Controller’, which is adjusted using the color-coded anodized crown at 2 o’clock, a screwdown and engraved caseback, a domed Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides and a water resistance to 200 m / 20 atm.

The dial is in black/green with a sandblasted finish, applied circular-brushed sub-dials, ML’s patented ‘Elapsed Time Controller’, applied diamond-cut hour markers applied with Swiss BGW9 Superluminova which has a blue emission.

The chronograph’s functions include: a central stop-watch seconds hand, 30-minute register and a 12hr counter. At 9 o’clock, there’s a sub-seconds display with a date window opposite it at 3 o’clock. All in all a well proportioned and highly legible display thanks to a large movement selected by ML for this very reason -

It is rhodium plated and decorated with circular gaining and a straight Côtes de Genève stripes. The 25 jewel movement beats at 28,800 bph and has a power reserve of 46 hours. It has been adjusted to 3 positions after full winding and after 24 hours.
