HELBERG CH1 BRONZE pre-ordersOPEN

By TLex HELBERG, H2O Watches’ new vintage label have opened pre-orders for the CH1, a very special watch inspired by the Rolex Deep Sea Special (DSS) from 1960! Last week we took a look at some renderings of the new CH1 in steel. This week we get to see the watch in stunning Bronze.

The lovely reddish golden tones come from the high copper content that there is in CuSn8 bronze alloy. The watch case, bezel and buckle will all be made from brushed German bronze CuSn8, whereas the crown will be in 316L Stainless steel and its case back will be in hypoallergenic Grade5 Titanium thus insuring a comfortable ride against the wrist.

Features of the case include; a choice of either a 15mm spherical Sapphire crystal inspired by the DSS, which had similarly high 15mm Plexiglas acrylic crystal – or a 7mm high double domed Sapphire crystal. Both crystals will have AR-coating on their undersides.

DIAL Although the CH1 only comes in one dial color, black there are in fact two handset and dial marker versions in either chromed or golden polished finishes. The hands, dial, and bezel markers are with blue BG9 SuperLuminova. The renders don’t clearly show how beautiful the golden hands and markers will be, but I am assured that they will be a similar gold as per the original DSS.

DISTORTION Due to its enormous height and shape, the 15mm spherical crystal is likely to have a some distortion. To what extent will not be known for sure until the fist sample crystals are made. For me this is one of the characteristics that I love about the original DSS. You can see how the dial behaves under the crystal [HERE]. If this doesn’t appeal, then HELBERG recommend the 7mm double domed crystal.

WATER-Resistance The CH1 boasts two incredible depth ratings, one for each crystal and caseback setup. The 15mm crystal plus the solid caseback will allow for a staggering 600 atmos., 6000 meters, 19685 ft. of water-resistance. Whereas the 7mm crystal combined with a Sapphire crystal caseback will allow for up to 300 atmos., 3000 meters, 9842 ft of water-resistance. The CH1’s features gaskets made of Viton and Teflon, which also do their part insuring the CH1's water-tightness.

FEATURES Features of the CH1 include; an original Swiss ETA 2824 automatic movement, two bezel styles available; a minimalistic bezel with a highly polished top or a divers style bezel with a brushed top and sides. The bezels are 120 click types. The Swiss mechanical movement has an anti-magnetic shielding of 70.000A/m with a closed caseback.
