DIEVAS Focal (simplified)

By TLex DIEVAS have recently released their latest divers model, the FOCAL. The Focal follows the success of the DIEVAS Vortex Professional.

FOCAL The Focal came about from a pursuit to build a dive watch that was simple, robust and dependable, and one which lead them to a collaboration with a metallurgy specialist.

6STEEL is named as such because it is up to 6 times harder than normal stainless steel. It is propriety case hardening process developed by DIEVAS in collaboration with their metallurgist partner.

PROCESS The 316L watch case is heated in a mixture of carbon gases at a precise low temperature, which allows diffusion of carbon atoms. This is then repeated over many hours to increase the concentration of atoms.

PLASMA The toughened watch case is then put through a vacuum chamber for a plasma coating, which helps to further increase corrosion resistance, particularly from seawater and sweat. It is then left in a hardening chamber for a further 2 weeks.

DIAL The Focal's dial markings have been kept to a bare minimum, however DIEVAS have made an eye catching feature of the name 'FOCAL' in yellow text with a matching yellow second pointer. All hands and markers have been applied with Swiss SuperLuminova.

SPEC The 45mm x 16.5mm 6Steel case has a water-resistance of 500m. It features an AR-coated sapphire crystal, screwdown crown and caseback and an HEV. It houses a modified Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement adjusted to 5 positions and fitted with a custom DIEVAS DLC-treated CNC rotor.
