By TLex Here's a really attractive new offering from STEINHART. The Applon isn't a dive watch per se, as its 3 interchangeable bezel aren't in fact rotatable. However it is does have a good 30 atm depth rating and is certainly the kinda of watch that we appreciate round here. The Applon, which has been on the drawing board for some time now, gave its basic case design to the Proteus; notice the same system for changing the bezels. But apart from this the Apllon is a completely different beast . . .
Specifications of the Applon include: a 45mm titanium case with a water-resistance of 300 meters, 24mm lugs, an engraved stainless steel caseback, a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating on its inside, a black and metallic gray sandwich dial, BG W9 Super LumiNova™, 3 interchangeable bezels (brushed stainless steel, DLC-coated stainless steel and full bronze) and a Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement.
The Applon looks fantastic with the bronze bezel, the sandwich dial is gorgeous. It is available from STEINHART's online store priced 440€. A titanium bracelet that will fit both the Applon and the Proteus will be released shortly plus a chronograph version of the Applon is due out in 6 weeks or so. Stay tuned for more . . .
