By TLex TÄRNAN (pronounced 'Tayr-nan') is the name of the Swedish tern, an elegant seabird of the Sternidae family and now the silhouetted tern logo of the revived TÄRNAN watch brand. TÄRNAN of 50s and 60s had been producing finely made stainless steel watches housing predominately Swiss calibres for the Swedish watch market; they also produced some nautical watches and chronographs.
TÄRNAN's 'water-proof' models (divers) were marked as such, but in Swedish 'vattentät', a trait that the new TÄRNAN Oceanographer also displays on its dial.
The brand was revived by Franck J, who in 2009 successfully launched the Techné brand. His plan with TÄRNAN - to release vintage-inspired watches such as the Oceanographer, which pays homage to the Rolex Submariner ref. 6200 from 1955.
To discover more about the brand and the new Oceanographer, please take the time to visit the TÄRNAN website, which was launched just today . . .
'Inspired by early experimental diving watches from the 1950's, the OCEANOGRAPHER is built with the best materials available and is manufactured using cutting-edge processes.'
