From JLC North Hutchinson Island, off the coast of eastern Florida, has a history unlike any other. From 1943 to 1946, thousands of brave volunteers trained at Fort Pierce for a top secret military group, which became known as the Naval Combat Demolition Units (NCDUs) and Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs). Years later, this elite group of commandos would evolve into the most elite Special Operations force in the world, the U.S Navy SEALs.
October 20th, Jérôme Lambert, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre has offered a Master Compressor Diving Chronograph GMT Navy SEALs to the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, tribute to the Navy Seals watch line launched by Jaeger-LeCoultre in 2009.
CAPT. Michael R. Howard, USN (SEAL) (Ret.), Museum Executive Director was proud to welcome Jaeger-LeCoultre and to share the history of the only museum in the world dedicated to preserving the history of the Navy SEALs and their predecessors.Chief James “Patches” Watson, Curator Emeritus of the Museum, and Plank Owner of SEAL Team 2, introduced Jaeger-LeCoultre to the Museum, the world of US Navy SEALs, and the qualities which they embody: Excellence, Perseverance, Courage, Knowledge, Adaptability, Attitude, and Discipline.
Since 2007, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Master Compressor Diving collection has been the next ultra of diving watches. So it is natural that professional divers have chosen these timepieces. Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Master Compressor Diving, among the most successful professional technical instruments, obviously could not long remain unknown to the United States Navy SEALs, who are always on the lookout for advanced items to supplement their equipment. So the birth of an association – dedicated to excellence and achievement – with this elite unit was almost a foregone conclusion.
Today ,Two Navy SEALs are wearing Master Compressor Diving watches during their actual mission and will test this equipment to confirm that it is the forefront of technology and absolutely reliable. It is this very quest for reliability and performance that governs Jaeger-LeCoultre’s design process for its diving watches – timepieces designed by professionals, for professionals.
