KREMKE HEQ (Military Spec. Diver)

© KREMKE (Click To Enlarge Image)

By
TLex Please find below details of Ian Kremke's latest project. The combination of blue and black work extremely well together, now where have I seen that combo before?!

© KREMKE (Click To Enlarge Image)

From Ian Kremke I am thinking of introducing a "grab and go" High-End Thermo-Compensated Quartz timepiece to our collection.

The design brief is to come up with a rugged, reliable, affordable and super-accurate tool watch that can be used and abused in the line of duty and/or recreation.

By affordable, i mean under US$1000 and by no means inferior in quality and workmanship.

I am aiming for a fresh yet refined style, with a serious functional undertone.
(Please, no more references/homages/copies of the following: BP Fifty Fathoms, Omega SM300 or Rolex Submariner)

Fresh/original designs and thinking for this project.

BENARUS Moray (2nd look)

By TLex Here're some pretty enticing images of the new vintage styled Benarus Moray taken by Benarus' new agent in the US.

The Moray can be easily dressed up or down on either the bracelet or a rubber strap, very sharp!

And the lume shots perfectly show off its application of C3 Superluminona, for that glow-in-the-dark goodness, impressive stuff

PRECISTA PRS3

By TLex From British watchmaker Eddie Platts, comes Precista's latest diver the PRS3, which should be ready for release in July.

The first batch will be limited editions of 200 pieces. They will come in four different colors; black, orange, blue and yellow, 50 of each.

More watches will be produced later, but they will be black non LE versions. They will come with regular elapsed dive time bezels.

All PRS3s will come on a bracelet. In addition the colored LE versions will also be supplied with respective colored rubber straps and will have dual countdown 12hr bezels.

The final design and specs are yet to have been made public (a few minor changes have been made though), but here're a few of Eddie's latest renderings to keep us tied over until the upcoming release. They should give enough of a hint as to the final look of the watch.

As always, Eddie, great work, as fellow Brit it's always a pleasure to see great looking dive watches coming out of Old Blighty! ;)

EDOX Ice Shark (a watch cut out for the sea)

From Edox Watchmakers Edox, based in the Swiss Jura, celebrate their 125th anniversary in 2009 with an horological story studded with success and with inventions some of which remain unrivaled even to this day.

Edox, with an image inextricably linked with the nautical world, became partner and official timekeeper for the spectacular class-1 boat racing event, the Class-1 Powerboat World Championships. Their name is also featured on the 44-foot yacht, Sea Dubai, which is signed up for the RC44 championships, the international regattas of which serve as qualifying events for the next America’s Cup.

The latest addition to the Edox family, born of their Dynamism line, is the new Class-1 Ice Shark, a decidedly technical and robust watch with clear, crisp styling. The watch is fitted with a chronograph movement ingeniously pivoted through an angle of 180 degrees and housed in a sturdy PVD-coated steel case.

The control buttons, with an orange epoxy trim, are located on the left, while the limited-edition number is engraved on the right side. Surrounded by a magnificent black ceramic bezel, the numerals and markers stand out in white and orange. The black dial provides an excellent contrast with the sub-counters which are also outlined in orange and one of which proudly features the silhouette of a shark.

The most demanding of sportsmen will be delighted with the black or orange natural rubber strap which is extremely comfortable to wear. Assembled by hand in Edox’s workshops, the Class-1 Ice Shark is water-resistant to the dizzying depth of 1,000 metres and production is limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide.

Edox have remained true to their philosophy for 125 years and their goal is to rank among the three foremost Swiss watch brands in their market segment. Their new Class-1 Ice Shark, a combination of precision and dynamism with a decidedly maritime character, certainly provides the Jura-based watchmakers with the means to achieve such a goal.

PRECISTA PRS-50-B

By TLex There aren't many more iconic designs than that of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, but with the new version being north of 10K it maybe a little out of reach for some.

The PRS-50 on the other hand can be picked up for a little under 400GBP, a true bargain considering the love that has been put into producing this honest (in terms of design) and truly magnificent looking homage from British watchmaker Eddie Platts of Precista.

The first 50 pieces sold out in just 3 hours, but another batch will be ready by mid July!

From PRECISTA Following the success and popularity of the Precista PRS-50 many customers asked for a different version with a domed acrylic crystal, closer to the specification of the watches manufactured more than 50 years ago. The PRS-50-B attempts, and I believe succeeds, to be that watch. The Precista homages do not pretend to be original but they do have the look and feel of the originals, almost always with superior specification, construction and materials.

The PRS-50-B has a 26mm visible dial with Super Luminova filled applied pennant indices. The domed acrylic crystal is 4.13mm thick and can be retro-fitted to the original PRS-50 without the need for modification, the sapphire from the PRS-50 can also be fitted to the PRS-50-B. The domed crown measures 4.5mm high by 6mm diameter. The hands are faceted polished silver with Super Luminova filling. The bezel insert is flat acrylic and the bezel markers are luminous.

The movement is a new old stock AS2063, a later and higher beat version of the AS1361 originally fitted to the Lip model manufactured between 1956-60. All the movements have been fully serviced and regulated.

The manufacturing drawing for the case and movement detail is identical to the PRS-50 shown further down this page, the only differences are the detail for the domed acrylic crystal on this version.
