A very worthy cause, so please make sure you drop in and checkout this thread for more details of how you can take part in the auction yourself. First up for auction is a modded Seiko Monster, The Rock Monster...

From Isthmus
This watch is easily one of my favorite pieces. Here we have a deceptively simple looking mod which is much more than skin deep. This design set out to create a rough hewn finish that reminded the wearer of a piece of granite. This one began life as a black monster. This one’s case, crown, bezel and bracelet were treated to a unique multi-media blasting session in order to achieve a rich texture and dark color.

Once blasted, everything but the caseback was coated in clear (transparent) Teflon so as to protect the blasted finish. The caseback was coated separately in dark gray ceramic. Once the caseback was coated, as was done with the Stealth Monster, the ceramic finish was removed from the raised portions of the tsunami logo in order to highlight it.

Now here is where things get really interesting. The already coated bezel now needed to have the indices filled in. Rather than taking the traditional approach and enameling them we chose to have them filled with luminous paint instead. In fact the markings were filled in with three different types of luminous paint, orange, red and (here is the special one) black. The Seiko logo in the clasp was also treated to black lume.

The end result looks like a normal painted bezel until you turn out the light. Then the whole thing comes to life. The casework on this piece was so elaborate that we didn’t feel that anything was necessary on the inside, and that the original black monster dial and hands nicely complimented the work done.
