And this is exactly what we have here with Synchron Military's second collaboration project, made with the celebrated Swedish dive gear manufacturer, Poseidon Diving Systems.
The Synchron Military whose vintage charms and quirky character stole our hearts just two short years ago when it was adorned with the famous Poseidon logo has returned as a Black Edition.
This time around showing the kind of constraint that is expected from only the most sober of diver's watches. Those that value contrast, legibility and readability above all else.
Once again we have a modern day tool-diver whose technical prowess affords its wearer the peace of mind to bathe in the deepest, darkest depths of the sea.
While allowing them to bask in its history, soaking up memories of a bygone era and to those halcyon watchmaking days of the 1970s.
A point in time when arguably some of the most memorable diver's models were born.
As the third iteration of the Military Diver series, this 2023 Limited Edition is once again built around a 42mm ‘tonneau’ shaped case crafted from 316L surgical grade stainless steel, and is water resistant to 300 meters.
However the checkered dial pattern of those that have gone before it, makes way for a high-contrast black dial.
Thus creating a steadier and more moderate look that is more in keeping with the aesthetic of that time.Which is exemplified by its use of ecru-colored “Old Radium” SuperLuminova.
Meanwhile its 120-click unidirectional rotational diver's bezel is crowned with a sapphire bezel inlay, and features a luminous dive-time scale with ten minute increments just as the OG combat divers did that came five decades before it.
The Synchron Military Poseidon Edition is powered by a La Joux-Perret manufacture, automatic movement.
Being a top grade Swiss-made movement, the G100 caliber has been adjusted to four positions for accuracy, and is further enhanced with a solid tungsten rotor set on ball bearings, and featuring the sophisticated KIF shock protection system, and an autonomy of up to 68 hours from fully wound.
With its high-contrast dial markings, vibrant colors and the instantly-recognizable yellow Poseidon Dive Gear emblem, the new Synchron Limited Black Edition diver carries on the tradition of creating purpose built utilitarian sports watches.
Those that recall an all too brief epoch when distinction, innovation and true purpose were imbued within beautifully sculpted watch cases, and a time when form and function were harmoniously maintained.
Limited to just 1,000 numbered pieces, the Synchron Military Poseidon will be available with an enamel glossy black dial.
