BREMONT Supermarine S502 JET [COMMANDO STYLE]

The British watchmaker renowned for their high-end military and aviation inspired timepieces goes full commando.

No, I’m not talking about ditching their undies in order to prevent the chafing that occurs when operating in hot and humid climates rather the use of stealth tactics like those employed by Britain’s coastal raiding special operators, the Royal Marines Commandos.

The black of night is a special ops best friend, providing critical cover and security while reliable kit can make all the difference when it comes to survivability.

This is why Bremont’s latest release includes a pair of stealthy versions of two of their popular Supermarine models.

Drawing inspiration from high-risk military night operations, Bremont presents the S502 Jet and the Supermarine Chrono Jet, two robust and tactical timepieces boasting an anti-reflective, black DLC treatment. In line with Bremont’s more technical Supermarine models, the two new timepieces incorporate certain vital functions required for extreme diving, in particular the unidirectional and bi-directional rotating bezels respectively in addition to a protective patented anti-shock movement mount.

Bremont’s iconic ‘Jet’ black palette extends to a black rubber strap on both models or an optional black leather stitched strap on the S502 and each of the robust 43mm timepieces houses a chronometer rated movement complete with a 42 hour power-reserve.

When operating under a cloak of darkness, senses are heightened, and visibility is key. As such Bremont has integrated a high degree of blue emission Super-LumiNova across both models.

Working with extreme adventurers and explorers has always been a key tenet of the Bremont brand DNA and a crucial part of the product testing. For these specific models, Bremont has enlisted the help of two ex-Special Forces Operators and brand ambassadors to test the watches to the limit. Former Royal Marines Commando and expert of extreme, remote and hostile locations, Aldo Kane regularly operates in extreme diving conditions and most recently undertook an underwater mission to collect ice samples for a scientific mission in the Arctic Circle, only 450 miles from the North Pole. The reliability of his kit is what keeps him alive, there is no quick escape when you’re diving in the pitch black under ice. He trusts in everything that he wears; ultimately relying upon it for his survival. His wristwatch is often the only light source that is visible in the otherwise pitch black and unforgiving environments that he finds himself in. Since the launch of the iconic Supermarine dive collection in 2009, the collection has gone from strength to strength. The unique design and capabilities to withstand extreme conditions have not only been extensively tested out in the field but also by numerous elite military squadrons and top dive units around the world. Two such testers are Jason Fox AKA Foxy, the now TV presenter, adventurer and a former member of the SBS and of course Aldo Kane mentioned above.

Special features of the Jet Edition include burnt orange luminous hands and dial markers as well as the watch’s water-resistance text in red.

Btw the watch’s S502 designation refers to its water-resistance which is certified to 502 meters.

The trademark of the Supermarine collection is that it highlights the connection between sea and air, a range that has been designed for the water but very much inspired by the principles of aviation.

The Bremont Supermarine dive collection was named as a tribute to the iconic British aircraft manufacturer responsible for the Supermarine S6B Schneider Trophy Seaplane and of course the incredible Supermarine Spitfire.

MSRP for the new Supermarine S502 Jet from Bremont is £4’195.

Thoughts? British by name British by nature, an all-round badass timepiece as used and tested by Britain’s best such as the Royal Marine Commandos and SBS.

Imo JB needs to ditch his Seamaster and get himself an S502 Jet. But what do you think?
