CIRCULA SuperSport [True Sports Diver]

This is the Circula SuperSport diver’s watch with its genuine compressor function and bearing case-back. Circula is a family run watch company that was founded in 1955; it has been producing high-quality mechanical watches ever since. The new Circula SuperSport is a Super-Compressor diver’s watch that first debuted in the 1950s. One of the cool things about the SuperSport that sets it apart from those watches that are perhaps only Super-Compressors in style (with dual crowns and an inner bezel); is that it has been engineered with true compressor functionality. This means that its case-back is actually compressed by water pressure providing better sealing the deeper you go. The once revolutionary technology hailing from the late 50s and 60s had been largely forgotten thanks to the introduction increasingly robust rubber seals but is now making a celebrated comeback thanks to the Circula SuperSport. Sports not only by name but by design, the SuperSport is based on models from the middle of the last century, which have been brought up to date with the use of modern design elements.

Its case has a diameter of 40 millimeters and a water resistance of 300 meters.

Meanwhile a Sapphire crystal guarantees a scratch-free view onto the dial, which is decked out with Swiss Super-LumiNova® C3 X1 and built in a sandwich construction.

This means the hours are recessed into the dial itself. The watch’s inner rotating bezel as well as the crown have also been filled with brightly glowing Swiss Super-LumiNova® C3. Power comes by way of a high-quality automatic mechanical from Sellita in Switzerland which provides the watch with its precise time display – this is available in ‘Top’ grade version as an additional option that comes with an extra hard Glucydur balance wheel for particularly high precision. The watch was created in collaboration with watch enthusiasts from all over the world. During the joint development on the brand's website, over 4,500 votes were cast on various aspects of the watch. The pre-order phase has now started and offers the opportunity to purchase the new SuperSport for EUR 699 (incl. VAT) / USD ~699 (excl. VAT) in the brand's online shop by October 15th, including: two straps, an H-Link steel bracelet and a Tropic rubber strap as well as free worldwide shipping. From mid-October it will cost € 100 more. Delivery will start mid-December 2021. Like all mechanical Circula watches, the SuperSport was built in Pforzheim, Germany.

Thoughts? Going by the side profile alone this is a great looking watch but if you then take into account that handsome sandwich dial plus the engineering that went into making this a true compressor diver and you have yourself a fantastic proposition especially at its price point. Kudos to everyone involved.

What do think?
