Sinn U50 S Mother-of-Pearl S

Forgive me Father for I have Sinn’d!

I allowed a new Sinn model to slip right under my radar, but here it is now – a new variant of Sinn’s baby U50 but with a radiant motherly face.

Introducing the diver’s watch made of the severest, German Submarine Steel with the gentlest mother-of-pearl dial from the heart of the sea.

Each of Sinn’s 500 piece Limited Edition U50 diver’s watches is uniquely numbered and boasts a light-reflecting dial that creates an exciting interplay of color and light. We’ve seen Sinn’s harsh dial treatment in the U1 DS with GRINDED dial now it’s time to see a softer side of the U series with an iridescent finish thanks to shimmering black mother-of-pearl. Mother-of-pearl and diver’s watches typically go hand in hand – we’ve seen our fair share of them, some better than others but few have created such a stark and appealing contrast as seen here.

Because mother-of-pearl is a naturally occurring product, each of the 500 dials in the series is utterly unique contrasting beautifully with the uniformity of Sinn’s sleek Black Hard Coating.

And because this is a U50, the timepiece is also equipped with a slew of specialist technical dive watch features. For example, the case and crown are made of high-strength German Submarine Steel.

Securely housed in the watch’s 41mm in diameter German Sub-Steel case is a Swiss engine, a Sellita SW300-1 self-winding mechanism with 25 jewels, a beat-rate of 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour – and all with anti-magnetic shielding as per DIN 8309. In addition to this, the classification company DNV has both verified and certified the watch’s pressure resistance to a diving depth of 500 meters = 50 bar as well as temperature-resistance and functionality in accordance with the EU’s diving equipment standards. The new Sinn U50 S Mother-of-Pearl S can be equipped with a choice of 3x silicon strap options that include: black, red or white or on a Black Hard Coating steel link bracelet. MSRP is €2,750 (silicon) or s€2,840 (bracelet).

Thoughts? This dive watch has it all – beauty and brawn, neatly packaged in a 41mm, 500m case. As for mother-of-pearl I can usually take or leave it but in this execution it works so well that I’d say it’s the perfect accompaniment to Sinn’s sub-sized, sub-steel diver.

But what do you think?

  1. Un ejemplo mas de la calidad constructiva Alemana. Me parece una gran opción para Buzos femeninas con esa madreperla tan bella. Ya de precio si se pone un poco dificil de tragar pero para un gustazo exquisito como este, vale el trancazo.
