With devastating forest fires raging out of control throughout the Mediterranean and a slew of floods wreaking havoc just a few weeks earlier, our planet is in the midst of yet another exponentially hot and cruel summer.
According to the latest IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) reports “climate change is widespread, rapid, and intensifying, and some trends are now irreversible” – f#ck!
So what’s the luxury watch industry’s answer to the question of ever hotter summers – the same as it’s always been –
chuck a new white dial onto the market to appease the otherwise seasonal slump in the hopes that the watch buying public will rouse themselves from the sweltering heat and floods, and buy another watch.
Well, I know what Greta would say; “How dare you!” and who could blame her – I mean seriously this is already the third achromatic offering this summer. This is Breitling’s latest release, a white faced GMT Diver and as described by the Swiss Manufacture, it is indeed bold, extremely robust and shock-resistant. This new Avenger Automatic GMT 43 White also features an additional pop of red from its GMT hand – at the ready to indicate a second time-zone – perhaps some place cooler. The Avenger Automatic GMT 43 features a sturdy 43mm Stainless-steel case and a choice of a Stainless steel bracelet or a black military leather strap that fits either a Stainless steel pin buckle or folding clasp.Power comes from a Breitling Caliber 32 self-winding mechanical movement with a 2nd time-zone (24hr) feature, a power-reserve of approx. 42 hours and beat-rate of 28,800 vph.
MSRP is 4’200USD (strap) 4’ 500 (steel) excl. sales tax.
Thoughts? I’m not sure that the leather jacket is giving off that much of a summery vibe but this is still pretty good looking;
not as hot as that white SUBMERSIBLE but better looking than Doxa's Sub 200 WHITEPEARL, but which of the three new white dials do prefer? Need I even ask ;)
As to the question of climate change aka global warming – I appreciate that not everyone prescribes to the opinions of Greta and co.
Not everyone believes that the World is a round sphere either but for me the writing’s on the wall and I don’t like what I’m seeing. As for Greta, ah she’s a good kid!
Tres buenos relojes, mojandome el más bonito es el Pam pero en mi muñeca se iria el Breit
ReplyDeleteJust can't get into matte hands and embossed indices. They look dull and cheap in person.
