RESERVOIR Hydrosphere BRONZE Greg Lecoeur EDITION

Here’s a dive watch that is by no means coy about its true calling – this is a diver through and through – I mean just look at it, oh, and btw wearers of it are cordially invited to explore the depths with a scuba-diving pro!

This is the latest model to join Reservoir’s HYDROSPHERE, retro-diver collection, a family of watches that were inspired by a depth gauge – 

btw that’s retro as in retrograde because one of the Hydrosphere’s most unique features is its retrograde minutes hand.

Introducing the new Hydrosphere the Greg Lecoeur Edition, a special 50 pieces Limited Edition watch created with a 45mm, satin-finished case in you guessed it – bronze. Btw this isn’t the first Hydrosphere to go bronze. Last year Reservoir and Revolution magazine teamed up to make a bronze edition of the Hydrosphere – I have included some photos but if you want more please visits Reservoir’s website for full details. Back to the Lecoeur Edition, its case comes with an anti-reflective Sapphire crystal which covers a blue dial with sundial finish and white indexes. Meanwhile an operating indicator moves in a clockwise direction to show that the watch is in good working order – usually a seconds hand takes care of this – which is requirement of a certified diver’s watch. Power comes from a patented proprietary, 124-pieces module on an ETA 2824-2 caliber the complications of which include: said retrograde minutes, a jumping hour and a power-reserve indicator for up to 37hrs. Diver’s features of this very cool diver include: a unidirectional, ceramic rotating bezel with dual scales for reading dive-time at different depths before and after the retrograde minute hand’s return, a Helium Valve and a water-resistant up to a depth of 250m.

The watch package includes an additional blue NATO plus an exploration notebook with Greg Lecoeur’s photographic works as well as half-day dive with Greg Lecoeur in the Port-Cros national park (France) this September 2021.

Thoughts? Honestly I’m just not sure that this watch looks any better in bronze – personally I feel that such a technical watch works better with a more clinical finish, one that can only really provided by steel case. 

Good job there are steel versions already available. But what do you think – any thoughts?
