Design-wise this is a faithful recreation of the OG model from 1968; however it has been well and truly brought up to date for 2020.

It boasts a case made from Seiko’s Ever-Brilliant Steel allowing for increased durability while being enhanced by a super-hard coating that protects the watch from scratches.

Like the original version, this recreation features a flat case with a sharp design. Seiko's unique Zaratsu polishing techniques accentuate the edges, bringing additional sharpness and beauty to the lugs.

The 1968 Diver’s Re-Creation is powered by a 10-beat Caliber 8L55 made by Seiko's skilled craftsmen and women at the Shizuku-ishi Watch Studio in Morioka in the north of Japan.
While the OG model was a SCUBA watch, the re-creation has been upgraded for SAT diving thanks to a resilient one-piece case structure. It is water-resistant up to 300m.

The 1968 Diver’s Re-Creation SLA039J1 is a Limited edition of 1,100 pieces and will be available from July 2020. It has a Japanese MSRP of 700,000 +TAX.
