This is the new Super Sea Wolf 68 Saturation from Zodiac, the second SW 68 Saturation model after the ANDY MANN that we saw last month.
It is the latest model to join the brand’s lineup of professional diver’s watches and as such has a solid 1000 meters of water-resistance.
The watch is characterized by its large oval-shaped case constructed from Stainless steel and measuring 45mm in diameter with a lug-lug measurement of 50mm and thickness of 16mm.
The SW 68 Saturation like so many retro divers these days; draws inspiration from the dive watch heydays of the 60s and 70s;
so in addition to the retro case has vintage features such as its serpent-headed large minutes hand and prominent orange framed hours and date window.
The watch has all your typical diving features such as: sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and case-back and a unidirectional diver’s bezel.
Zodiac who is owned by the Fossil group (known for cheap and cheerful fashion watches) persist with their use of cheap and cheerful mineral crystal for the inlay; no sure why?
For a 16 hundred dollar watch this is bordering on criminal. What’s wrong with Sapphire or ceramic – there’s no comparison to how well it holds up over time.
Powering the SW 69 Sat is an STP 3-13 automatic movement. The dial says it’s a chronometer but I’m not sure if it’s been officially certified?
Thoughts? I love the look of this watch – the case, the textured black dial, the funky date window etc. it’s beauty but my personal feeling is that it is overpriced. What do you think?
