The Abyss is back and this time it’s bigger and badder than ever! After a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign, Zelos launched Abyss 1 in 2015.
The second Abyss which featured updates and improvements including a dual time-zone function was launched in 2018.
For 2020 the Abyss returns, and once again with 3000 meters of water-resistance, the equivalent of around 4,300 pounds per square inches of pressure.
The Abyss 3 launch lineup includes some 12 variants: 6 in 316L Stainless steel and 6 in same CuSn8 Marine-Grade Bronze with a couple of Zelos’ signature meteorite models in each.
The Abyss 3 gets a date window at 6 o’clock with a matching bronze or steel frame. The date wheels have been color-matched to the dials, too.
Models without a date get a submarine propeller, sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock with one of the propeller blades tipped in red, allowing it to function as a second hand.
The applied indices have been individually cut, ground, and polished before being applied to the dial, so as to add a sense of depth and dimension to the dial.
Powering the Abyss 3 is Swiss made Sellita SW200 automatic movement. The submarine propeller sub-seconds models get an SW260.
Like its predecessors the Abyss 3’s right side has dual crowns: the one at 2 o’clock is for the setting of the time; while the one at 4 o’clock is a manual Helium Escape Valve.
Finally, all the indices, hands, dial, logo, bezel, and even the twin crowns have been lumed with Super-LumiNova C3 X1, the brightest lume grade manufactured by Super-LumiNova.
Special features include: cases with alternating brushed and polished finishing, ceramic bezel inlays made from Zirconium Oxide and high double-domed Sapphire crystal with inner AR.
