We are quite fond of a field watches here at OceanicTime; here’s a lovely new one from master watchmaker, Stepan Sarpaneva’s S.U.F label.
The new 180 which represents a 180° turn and a return to basics for the Finnish watch brand is a stripped-back field watch and potential entry-level model.
180 also happens to be the postcode of the SarpanevaUhrenFabrik workshop in the Finnish capital, Helsinki where the watch is hand-assembled.
Crafted from high-grade Stainless steel (SUPRA 316L/4435), impregnated with chrome mined near the Finnish coast –
the 180’s case measures 38.7mm in diameter with a thickness of 8.9mm in thickness and a lug-to-lug measurement of 46.4mm.
The 180 field watch has a water-resistance of 100 meters.
The 180 launches with 4 dial colors: cranberry-red “Karpalo”, licorice-black “Salmiakki”, cobalt-blue “Taivas” and frost-white “Kuura”.
The dial features Sun Ray finished steel hands and a traditional lollipop seconds hand and railway minutes track which circles numerals in Scandi-noir typeform, unique to S.U.F.’s founder Stepan Sarpaneva.
Power comes from a Soprod A10 Caliber with Rhodium plating and a perlage finishing and power-reserve of 42hrs.
The 180 comes on a leather strap made from Nordic Elk. Each color is limited to 50 pieces. It has an MSRP of 2200€.
