Cape Horn, one of the land points the Vendée Globe sailors must pass by on their voyage around the world, is one of the most treacherous routes.
It is the inspiration for a new Limited Edition version of UN’s Chronometer 44MM - – the Diver X Cape Horn.
Ulysse Nardin has refocused its attention towards the Diver Chronometer 44MM which it will release in 3X Limited Editions of 300 pieces for 2020.
UN has literally gone bonkers for the letter “X” which they have incorporated into all their marketing spiel and unsurprisingly, even directly into some new models.
The UN brand wants you (yes, you sat on the sofa with your coffee) to experience, explore and get generally excited about a new extension of their existing brand that has the X factor.
Not an unknown quantity, but in this instance “X” as in extreme as these models are inspired by three extreme points on the globe.
BTW all Diver X models are distinguished by a large “X” which has been proudly slapped into the middle of the dial where it (actually quite nicely) integrates into the overall design.
This is the new shark-friendly Diver X Cape Horn. Its 44mm Titanium case has a water-resistance of 300m. The case of each Diver X timepiece is individually numbered on the side.
Power comes from a Ulysse Nardin in-house caliber UN-118, an automatic COSC-Certified Chronometer.
Diver X Cape Horn LE is presented on a black fabric strap with saffron burnt orange stitching recalling the Spice Route or the harrowing trip around Tierra del Fuego.
Special features include a forged-carbon bezel and a black DLC-treated Titanium case.
The geographical coordinates of Cape Horn [55°.58’48” S x 67°.17’21” W] as well as the route of the Vendée Globe race are stamped on its case-back.
Its MSRP is 9’900USD. Thoughts? Yes, this is very nice!
