a grand event where UN get to unveil and showcase their latest timepieces and of course a nice reminder to the rest of us, of how just how poor we are. ;)
This will be the 11th consecutive year that UN has partnered with the Monaco Yacht Show; they always re-lease a special watch (usually a diver) to mark the occasion but I have to say that this year’s watch could be the most special yet and don’t forget we’ve actually already seen it but in case you missed it here it is again with its official release.
From a diver’s perspective, UN as a brand are kinda’ on fire at the moment; that is to say they are consistently releasing exciting (sometimes titillating) new models.
There’s the Hammerhead DEEP DIVE, and two entirely new collections, the Diver CHRONOMETER and more recently, the Diver 42MM of which the Blue Shark is part of.
A limited edition of just 300 pieces, the Blue Shark is crafted from Stainless steel with a blue PVD bezel, and sand-blasted a blue dial and strap highlighted with touches of bright orange.
The case-back is stamped with a blue shark pattern reminiscent of the watch’s older and larger sibling, the Diver Great White 44mm, which made its debut at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show.
Water-resistance is 300m. Power comes from an in-house Calibre UN-816 automatic movement. The Blue Shark Limited Edition ref. 8163-175LE/93-BLUESHARK has an MSRP of 6'800 €.
Thoughts? This is such a cool watch – I think owed largely to the irresistible combination of its exotic blue PVD and orange, but also cos’ I love a good shark diver, how bout’ you?
