Ressence have released a new Type 5 (first released in 2016); the TYPE 5N AKA Night Blue joins a growing family that includes:
the Type 5B and Type 5BB with its all black case as well as the special edition, Type 5 G AKA GREY.
Special features of the Type 5 N include: a Convex Night Blue dial. The dial, BTW is said to be made from Grade 5 Titanium.
All Type 5 dials feature 3x eccentric bi-axial satellites that inclined at 3° (hours), 4.75° (thermal gauge and runner) with engraved indications filled with Superluminova.
Powering the watch is: a patented ROCS 5 AKA Ressence Orbital Convex System which is driven by the minute axle of a specially customized 2824/2 caliber.
Functions include: Hours, Minutes, Runner (90 Seconds) and Oil Temperature.
Talking of oil, The Type 5’s 44mm x 15.5mm Grade 5 Titanium case house two separate sealed chambers with the upper one filled with 37.5 ml of oil.
It is covered top to bottom by domed Sapphire crystals with both sides with anti-reflective coating. It also has a unidirectional bezel and a water-resistance of 100m.
The Type 5 N is delivered on a 24mm Blue Cordovan leather strap with an Ardillon Buckle, also in Grade 5 Titanium.
Thought oil filled divers were supposed to be cheap ‘n’ nasty affairs?
The ingenious Type 5N – Night Blue has a Swiss MSRP of 29,500CHF + taxes making one of the most expensive dive watches, full stop.
Thoughts? This is definitely the best looking Type 5; you can’t go wrong with blue. The watch itself - something to marvel at for sure; what do you think?
