CARL F. BUCHERER Patravi ScubaTec BLACK MANTA SE

Something that any SE worth its salt should come with – is a cast iron guarantee of its (for want of a better word) degree of specialness;

something that this lovely new SE from Carl F. Bucherer has in spades. The brand has created a stunning Special Edition of their flagship diver, the Patravi ScubaTech for 2019.

It’s called the ScubaTech Black Manta and it boasts a DLC-coated Titanium case with an HEV and 500 meters of water-resistance which should more than meet your requirements for swimming with the fishes –

or should I say manta rays because that’s what the brand want you to do with your new dive watch and that’s why part of the proceeds from its sale will be donated to the Manta Trust charity.

Carl F. Bucherer’s contribution has been specifically earmarked for research on the manta ray’s movement patterns.

And because this watch is all about manta rays; two silhouettes of the gentle giants decorate the center of the black dial while a single manta ray adorns the case-back.

The dial is framed by indexes covered in SuperLumiNova, this is framed by a unidirectional rotational diver’s bezel made of tough Titanium and ceramic.

Power comes from an automatic CFB caliber 1950.1, COSC-certified chronometer with 38-hour power reserve.

The watch comes on a rubber strap with a recycled PET textile layer and folding diver’s safety clasp in DLC-coated Titanium. Very cool!

Thoughts? This is a great looking watch, the ScubaTech never really got my juices flowing but it looks killer in these tones and you get to help a manta ray or two.
