SHINOLA Watches LAKE SUPERIOR MONSTER Auto 43MM

Detroit based, Shinola once again look to the Great Lakes for inspiration for their newest collection of divers. Presented in three variants;

the Lake Superior Monster with its black dial and steel bracelet, the Lake Huron Monster with its orange dial and black rubber, and the Lake Michigan Monster with its blue dial and rubber.

You may remember the Lake ERIE Monster from last year. A watch that I felt had much merit, but was considered by many to have an overly ambitious price-tag.

Pound for pound these three new Shinola Lake Monsters are the same as the Lake Erie Monster. Yet they have a price-point that is a cool 1000USD lower.

For comparison the Lake Erie Monster price was 2250USD whereas the Lake Superior Monster is 1450USD. What gives?

Basic spec includes: a 43mm Stainless case, a black enamel dial and a Swiss made Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with 26 jewels and a power-reserve of 38-hours.

Divers features include: an anti-magnetic-shield, a Sapphire crystal, a unidirectional divers bezel, a screw-down crown and case-back secured by via four screws. Water-resistance is 1000FT.

The Lake Superior Monster comes on Stainless steel three-link bracelet with a micro-adjustable divers clasp. MSRP is 1450USD.

Thoughts? It’s still a nice looking diver despite the now white date window and less interesting case-back design. And it’s still a little pricey despite the lower price tag. What do you think?
