EMILE CHOURIET Challenger Deep SIGNAL ORANGE & YELLOW

Emile Chouriet has introduced a zesty pair of new dial colors to their Challenger Deep diver’s watch collection. Signal orange and signal yellow lend these two new models from the Challenger Deep family fresh sporty faces that are perfect for these last few days of summer. Taking its name from the deepest known point in the ocean, the 10’916m-deep trench, known as the Challenger Deep, Emile Chouriet’s watch of the same name doesn’t actually go quite as deep as its names suggests . However with a water-resistance of 300 meters it more than meets industry norms for a diver’s watch; but it is still a far cry from the Mariana Trench.

And because Emile Chouriet is in fact owned by Fiyta (Hong Kong) Limited AKA Emile Chouriet Timing (Shenzhen) Ltd its current heritage is also a far cry from the shores of le Lac Léman AKA Lake Geneva.

Still the Challenger Deep has earnt its “Swiss Made” dial marking thanks to an automatic Caliber EC9316 (based on an Swiss ETA 2824) which provides 42hrs of autonomy.

Other features of the Challenger Deep include: a 42.5mm Stainless steel case, a unidirectional diver’s bezel with a black ceramic inlay and a domed Sapphire crystal.

And finally as a finishing touch both these new models are delivered with dial-matching rubber diver’s straps in signal orange and yellow respectively. MSRP is 1,500USD.

Thoughts? The EC CD watches used to have their dial branding printed in some sort of medieval gothic script – this has been replaced with a simpler and more elegant font.

The colors are great, too but that red band around the winding crown makes the watches look cheap. But what do you think and what would you get yourself with a budget of 1’500USD?
