CHRISTOPHER WARD C65 Divetimer SPECIAL EDITION

Now you see me – now you don’t! This is/was Christopher’s Ward’s latest vintage diver offering, a technicolored summer release if you will, a Special Edition vintage diver’s watch to revival Mido’s Ocean Star Decompression Timer 1961 LE and the like. Based on a C65 platform, the Divetimer Special Edition makes use of a decompression-scale – not on its bezel like an Aquastar or Doxa, not on its case-back like err I forget (answers on a postcard, please) or even its strap like some well-known Japanese divers do but where it really counts – on its dial. Presented in a mosaic of concentric rings in varying shades of blue and orange, the watch’s deco-table serves as a striking reminder of those pre-dive-computer days when divers solely relied on such tables to assist them in calculating their decompression stops on their way back to the surface after an ascent into the depths. In addition to the watch’s overall pleasingly vintage aesthetic with particular note to that very pretty face with its deco-table, the C65 Divetimer makes use of movement that too harkens back to a bygone era. It is powered by a Sellita SW210 caliber that is hand-cranked. And the MSRP for Christopher Ward’s 150 piece C65 Divetimer Special Edition watch? 715USD – no wonder they old SOLD OUT in a mere 24hrs.

Thoughts? This or the MIDO? Well, it's long gone, but I would say C65 Divetimer all day long. But what do you think; do you like calculation tables on watch dials?

  1. Tambien prefiero el C65 que el Mido que tambien es un buen reloj, pero carece de lumen en su mano segundera

  2. I'd like to add a rainbow colored diver to my collection - one that could be worn on several different colors of ISOfranes. This could have been a contender. Too bad they're all gone already.
