OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M TOKYO 2020 [Olympic inspired?]

A new countdown has begun for the Tokyo 2020.5 Olympics – only 90 odd days to go! And just because the Tokyo 2020 Olympics never (hasn’t) happened (yet) doesn’t mean that the official Seamaster Diver 300M produced by the event’s official timekeeper shouldn’t get its chance to compete (for your cash). Well it’s certainly a little later than planned, but the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is finally on its way – and what better way could there possibly be for a belated celebration than the launch of a lovely new Olympic inspired Diver 300M – only this watch (despite its unique color scheme inspired by the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games emblem) is otherwise lacking in official Olympic flavor, no Olympic colors or rings; could just as well be any old Diver 300M; well at least on the face of it – yes, I mean, actually on its face which has no mention of the event or the organization which is just fine with me. Meanwhile the watch’s sapphire crystal exhibition case-back which affords a view of the watch’s movement, an OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 8800 – which has been officially certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) has a subtle laser-etched Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games emblem. The watch is based on 42mm case which has been crafted from Stainless steel and mounted with a blue ceramic bezel inlay, which is filled with a white enamel dive-time scale. Stainless steel has also been used for the integrated polished-brushed bracelet.

Finally, to complement the blue, there is a polished white ceramic dial with added depth thanks to pronounced laser-engraved waves. Features include a date window at 6 o’clock and the famous Seamaster name highlighted in red.

Blued hands and indexes complete the dial design and are filled with white Super-LumiNova. The Seamaster Diver 300M Toyo 2020 timepiece is presented in a special Olympic Games box, along with a Master Chronometer card and a full 5-year warranty.

Thoughts? I have to admit I’m a bit jaded by the Olympics organization itself; they’re no different from the UN or the WHO in how they handle themselves with respect to the Chinese Communist Party, happily overlooking all of China’s most heinous human rights abuses.

So I say f#@$ the Olympics – okay well at least f#@$ (I mean boycott) the forthcoming Beijing Winter Olympics. And as to this watch why would any self-respecting person want to pony up extra for an “Olympic” watch?!

Meanwhile we know the Diver 300M is a great dive watch no matter how it’s dressed up – I’m a big fan but just no fan of the Olympic organization. But what do you think; do you like the watch?

Also as this isn’t the first time (insert bowed head), would you prefer that I not callout the CCP on my little watch blog or do you think that other bloggers and influencers should also use their platforms to say something like “FREE THE UYGHURS!!!” I mean cos' someone has too, right.

Have a nice day ;)
