Any rugby fans among you? Well, if you are a fan of the sport, here’s the perfect diver that combines two unlikely worlds, the one of rugby and diver’s watches.
Personally I’m more of a football man (soccer to my friends in the States) but at the end of the day RFU association or not, this is still the best of British when it comes to diver’s watches.
As the Official Timing Partner of both England Rugby and the hallowed Twickenham Stadium (where all the most important fixtures are held such as those international ones like the Six Nations) -
Bremont commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) with the release of the Limited Edition RFU 150 watch.
Limited to a series of just 150 pieces, the new timepiece which is based on Bremont’s flagship diver, the S500 (Supermarine) honors this historic milestone in British sport.
As the official timing partner of the RFU for 2020 Bremont also delivered all of the Twickenham stadium’s official time-related match day content, including branded match clocks around the stadium.
Kicking off the new partnership Bremont produced the Rose timepiece prior to the Guinness Six Nations 2020, the new RFU 150 further marks this historic occasion.
The Bremont RFU 150 features a chronometer rated movement with a 24h GMT hand as well as Bremont’s patented protective anti-shock movement mount.
The S500’s 43mm in diameter satin and polished Stainless steel case is fitted with a unidirectional rotational diver’s bezel with a blue ceramic inlay and features an automatic Helium Escape Valve and crown protector.
The bezel also allows keen timekeepers to keep an eye on the match playing time with indicators showing the approach of half/full time in red and any extra-time added on in white – meanwhile off the pitch it of course serves as a dive-timer.
The dial is inspired by the blue tone of the England rugby team alternative kit while the inner dial ring is proudly stamped ‘Twickenham’.
The watch’s closed case-back features the RFU’s new, specially designed, Heritage Rose emblem celebrating the anniversary, taking inspiration from the first rose that featured on the players’ caps from 1871 (and still does today).
I don't care for rugby, but the watch itself is okay looking. But, again, there are many watches I would consider first at close to $6k price range...
