In fact I think just about everyone has and I’m not only talking current f#@k’d up world status quo (hang in there folks) –
there’s a good amount of blue about in the diver’s segment which ain’t no bad thing as what color could possibly be more evocative of the ocean that so many of us yearn for.
The dial of the new C60 Sapphire introduces a first for a diver’s watch as is it made from a wafer of pure sapphire crystal, just 0.6mm thick.
This is backed by a layer of blue polycarbonate giving the dial its mesmerizing translucent blue glow – in addition to affording an otherwise unseen view of the mechanical movement beneath.
Some 20 steps as well as more than 80 operations were taken to make the see-through sapphire dial of the new C60 Sapphire.
Being a C60, the watch also makes use of CW’s famous “light catcher” case, its name taken from the way light bounces off its polished and brushed facets.
The 316L Stainless steel case measures 40mm in diameter and is water-resistant to 600 meters. It also is home to a self-winding Swiss movement with a 38-hour power reserve, a bespoke Sellita SW200-1.
The 26-jewel movement comes with a date wheel and a beat rate with 4Hz frequency. It also has an in-built anti-shock system to maintain accuracy when faced with any sudden jolts.
The dial indexes btw are filled with Super-LumiNova® Grade X1 GL C1 – there is also a blue lume - filled 15-min scale on the watch’s steel diver’s bezel.
A final dose of blue comes from a hybrid textile and rubber strap which can easily be changed Christopher Ward's ingenious quick-release system if you wish wear the watch on its Stainless steel bracelet.
MSRP in the UK is from £795. Thoughts? Have to applaud CW for offering something unique in a diver and who doesn’t like blue? What do you think?
