LAURENT FERRIER Grand Sport TOURBILLON

I probably have no business posting a 185K watch on OT, but when I was deciding what to post today, there was some mediocre bronze diver - or this.

It isn’t a diver that’s for sure, but damn it’s good – this is the Grand Sport Tourbillon from Laurent Ferrier!

Genevan atelier, Laurent Ferrier who is well-known for creating classical watches using traditional high-end watchmaking techniques has crafted a new contemporary watch.

The Grand Sport Tourbillon, housed in a sporty 44mm Stainless steel case, this is the LF’s first model equipped with an integrated Stainless steel bracelet.

The new addition to Laurent Ferrier’s portfolio of models features a tourbillon, double balance spring, and the brand’s famous exalted finishing.

The case of the Grand Sport Tourbillon is housed predominantly features circular satin-finished elements. The bezel is cushion-shaped but encompasses contrasting mirror-polished flanks.

The middle of the case has a barrel-shaped outline, yet, in keeping with other Laurent Ferrier timepieces, every element of the case has been harmoniously integrated into the overall design.

For the first time, the Maison has equipped a watch with an integrated stainless steel bracelet. The central row of the 3-rows design is comprised of vertical satin finished links.

The rounded edges of the links are presented in a contrasting mirror-polish. These details imbue the bracelet and case ensemble with a sumptuous appearance.

The modern styling of the watch continues with an opaline dial that transitions from blue at its center to black near its periphery.

Both the hands and indexes feature orange SuperLumiNova while a snailed sub-seconds display can be found above 6 o’clock beneath a gently arcing tinted Sapphire crystal,

In addition to the blue variant on the Stainless steel bracelet there is a variant with a brown dial on brown rubber.

Power comes from an in-house Laurent Ferrier 23 jewel Tourbillon, adjusted to all positions.

MSRP is 185,000USD but fear not, folks I’ve searched about for you and you can pick one up on Chrono24 for as little as 99K – an absolute steel!

Thoughts? A breathtaking timepiece - I absolutely love the simple yet elegant styling. There are some lovely design features such as the onion crown and the handset.

The fusion of contemporary and vintage styling plus the orange on blue is super appealing – but the fact that it only comes as a Tourbillion is bit of a “f#@k you” to us lesser mortals –

because if this was powered by a simple automatic movement – it would be popular. Then again it would still probably be well outta’ my price range.
