SERICA W.W.W. WMB Edition

Here’s a quick look at a modest Swiss made, British Military inspired non-diver that is not without its charms!

First off, the name W.W.W. has nothing to do with URLs but is in fact an acronym that was used to define watches created for the British Army in 1945.

It simply stands for Wrist Watch Waterproof. The WMB stands for William Brown.

The design of the watch is highly evocative of the famous Dirty Dozen watches from messieurs: Buren, Cyma, Eterna, Grana, JLC, Lemania, Longines, IWC, Omega, Record, Timor and Vertex.

These 12 brands AKA the Dirty Dozen met with the British MOD’s stringent requirements for military grade wristwatches from 1945 onward.

Unlike those proud names the Serica’s watch has an unbranded dial.

The lacquered black dial with its Black or White painted numerals is equipped with Alpha or Broad Arrow (hrs) and Dauphine (mins) hands.

All hands and markers are with SuperLumiNova. Power comes from a reliable Swiss automatic movement: the ETA 2801-2 caliber.

Basic spec. includes a 37.7mm in diameter Stainless steel case with: hardened mineral crystal, 100 meters of water-resistance thanks to a solid steel case-back and screw-down crown.

The watch is delivered with 2 straps: Smooth calfskin US Military type leather strap (Made in France) & Nylon NATO G10.

Two dial colors are offered as well as two handsets. MSRP is 540USD.

Thoughts? You had me at British Army and Broad Arrow – lost me at 37.7mm and mineral crystal!
