Blacker, bolder and possibly brighter than ever the SSW 53 Black Compression boasts a black-plated case and brightly glowing blue lume.

I would imagine that the case is a standard IP or PVD coating; if it was DLC I’m sure Zodiac would make a point of telling us.

The stealthy-looking case has a modest size – measuring just 40mm in diameter with a height of 13mm and a lug-to-lug measurement of 49mm.

Diver’s features include: a screw-down case-back and crown, a Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and 200 meters of water-resistance.

The black case comes with a black texturized dial with white lumed hands and markers that emit a blue light.

The case of the watch is topped by a unidirectional diver’s bezel with a mineral crystal inlay, dive-time scale and luminous 12hr marker.

Power comes from a Swiss made STP 3-13 automatic movement. The watch comes on a black plated Stainless steel link bracelet. It has an MSRP is 1,395USD.

Thoughts? It’s just too small for me but it’s still really cool. I do however think that Zodiac -
are possibly being a bit cheap with their punters by using inferior IP/PVD instead of DLC and budget mineral-crystal instead of Sapphire. What do you think?

ne can obtain a similar watch for $200
