Omega has just released the ultimate SM 300M 007 OHMSS watch set for JB fans, but before we geek out over this very awesome set – a quick story . . .
Ever wondered how JB ending up exclusively wearing an Omega?
It was thanks to someone called, J-CB – Jean Claude Biver, that it is, who during his tenure at Omega was presented with an idea for an Omega watch to be worn by the famous agent.
J-CB was vehemently opposed to the idea as he thought JB’s best days were behind him with the likes of Sean Connery.
To cut a long story short; he finally came around to the idea and approached Eon Productions who were working on Golden Eye at the time.
Eon were only too happy to oblige for a fee of around 50 grand – J-CB came back them saying that he didn’t want to pay 50 grand he wanted to pay a million!
The deal that Eon Productions and Omega finally made ended up being one of the most incredible deals for product placement in a film (certainly as far as the watch industry was concerned).
JB has worn an Omega ever since. Pierce Brosnan made his debut as 007 in Golden Eye, 1995 where he famously wore an SM 300 Pro Quartz.
Omega and the JB franchise have been in partnership ever since - for better or worse, we have J-CB to thank for that!
So how about this set? This a special Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition Set. Just 257 of the sets have been created, comprised of two unique watches inside a Globe-Trotter™ suitcase.
Globe-Trotter BTW is a British luxury luggage, suitcase and accessory brand, established in 1897. Their bags are handcrafted in England.
The first watch in the set features a black rubber strap and Stainless steel case, with an 18K yellow gold Limited Edition plate on the side. The bezel is black ceramic with a white enamel diving scale.
The second watch, in 18K yellow gold, sports a black rubber strap. The Limited Edition plate is in 18K white gold, while the black ceramic bezel features a diving scale in OMEGA Ceragold™.
Both watches in the set are presented inside a Globe-Trotter™ suitcase, which has been bound by black and grey NATO-inspired straps.
An additional stainless steel bracelet, as well as a NATO strap for each model, is included. There is also a special SM 300M Diver’s bezel loupe.
This is hands-down the poorest written watch article I've ever read.
