Never let it be said that I fail to include something for the fairer sex. With that slightly non-PC comment being said, here’s a brand new eight strong, ladies collection of shrouded divers from SEIKO Prospex Japan.
But hold on just a moment; why are these being advertised as ‘’ladies’’ when they are almost identical to the full sized men’s variants? Also are we even allowed to label watches, men’s or ladies these days without someone getting on a soapbox and telling us we’re sexist?
Surely there are dive watches out there that identify as neither men’s nor ladies – you know, non-binary dive watches. I digress, allow me to remove my tongue from my cheek and address what is certainly a case of mistaken identity.
Because, going over the specs. this new collection would have been better classified by size rather than gender as there is nothing particularly feminine about them, at all. Even their smaller 43mm case size is a very acceptable men’s size.
Not to mention the current trend towards more modest sized wristwatches; these watches make absolute sense as pint-sized variants. Imho, they are not ladies, and could be happily worn all day long by men without any fear of emasculation. Nuff said!
The watch cases are constructed as an Solar Diver with an inner-Stainless steel module with an outer casing in hardened black plastic and are fitted with curved crystals.
Divers features include: 200m of water-resistance making them suitable for scuba-diving, anti-magnetic-resistance, a one-way bezel and a screw down crown and case-back.
Power comes from a Solar-driven Driving system, the Seiko Caliber V147 which has an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and an operating time of for approx. 10 months from fully charged.
V147 functions include an overcharge prevention function as well as a quick-start function. Further features of the watches include: hands and dial markers with Seiko LumiBrite.
The ''Ladies'' watch case has a height of 43mm, width of 42.7mm and depth of just 11.5mm. Its total weight is 72g.
